I always really liked this style of drawing. Many years ago I worked as a pencil and paper draftsman and although I didn't do Patent Illustrations I did do some product drawings that made it into the company literature.
Agreed. I always start hot rod projects with drawings. Some CAD programs are sophisticated, but I still revert to the pencils & paper method... Harry Miller had archived drawings of every bolt and bracket on the Miller race cars.
If you have a few hours to spare try 'Google Patents'. Key word search is excellent. Not sure about downloading images but attached is a pdf of Louis Chevrolet's patent overhead valve conversion head.
Couldn't agree more! Looks hot rod to me. I checked out the website it came from. Lots of cool old time art/posters.
Neat stuff. Figure 3 looks like the perfect design for a vintage engine powered Bonneville modified sports class car.
Great stuff. The Golden Arrow & the "Slug", the Segrave cars, are particularly nice. Just love those LSR cars
