My wife bought this monday...

went to a friends this weekend who has some stuff and told me to bring this home.
46 chevy truck
gm front clip
i believe s-10 rear
no motor or trans
all for 600 or do not come home she says.
now she says build it.she wants to paint it white with black trim,and i say leave it just the way it is...

hit it with CLR and some dryer sheets...it will look like new..

I'd paint it...White and black would look really good.

she's right. get rid of the rust.

 

Really, make it how she wants it and she will enjoy it. Don't, and she'll be resentful.
Find your own to leave patina'd (Although I find that look getting about as old as rat rods).

You seriously have no clue how lucky you are to have a wife like that... For most of us it's a battle everytime we want a new project.. count your blessings and paint it the way she wants.. it'll pay off in the long run... trust me on this!

 

My wife is very particular on her builds too.... She want let me any where near here '52 Caddy with out supervision!!!!!!!!!!

know it may sound a little goofy, but how bout doing all of the mechanicals, electrics, etc before worrying about a paint job or not? I bought my wife a partly modified '39 Chevy PU and got it pretty much near ready for the road. She finally sat in it with the steering wheel and seat in it and found it was too uncomfortable with such a narrow cab. Sold it and bought a project '50 Chevy PU and finished it-finally had a truck she was happy with. sometimes if plan A doesn't work go to plan B.

 

Your wife is right, again. Paint it.

Oh so very very true.

 

If the wife anit happy, nobody is happy. Don't ask me how I know, what you like is not always what they like. White with black trim looks good from my house.

 

My girlfriend said the same thing about a 64 split window bus, in the 4-5 years it's been sitting in the garage she has not lifted one finger to do anything with it. So don't always think it's going to turn out to be this great thing because sometimes it doesn't.
