I have searched the HAMB and the Net and I have concluded the following. The 1929 Model A Victoria did not have a slant windshield but the 1930-31 models did. Is this true? And, the 1929 Model A Victoria doors are the same as the truck/Tudor doors, true? Many Thanks Rick. P.S. And of course post pic's if you would like. (I Would Like)
I went to car nuts and found this so I just.....see, learn from the HAMB! http://www.carnut.com/cgi-bin/03/image.pl?/show/03/pbo/nat1118.jpg http://www.carnut.com/cgi-bin/02/image.pl?/show/02/pbo/nat865.jpg
Thanks to all, I have indeed learned. Now, is there any set "protocall" on converting a 28-9 Tudor into a Vicky wanna be? (no powder puff colors for me though)!
Production on the Victoria started in September of 1930. A 1930 Vicky is more rare than a 1932 Vicky. My 2 cents...
----------------- That's kind of like asking "how can I convert a Tudor into a coupe?". There's no way of making a Tudor into a Vicky, short of grafting a gennie '30-31 Vicky body back half onto to the front - ie - cowl and windshield section of your '28-'29 Tudor. It's do-able as those previously posted pictures confirm, but as the Victoria was a relatively rare Model A body style, it'd be worth a lot more with a proper '30-'31 cowl and and proper slant windshield. Thanks mart3406. I understand the logic in your words. But. I do not have anything that is worth much, so, value is not the quest here. Something different is. The more I think (danger) the more this digs at me. Rick.
It's a pitfall however you slice it. If you love the look and were to do it purly for that, somebody would ruin your fun by calling you a liar, "you didn't make that, it's a Vicky". You would say, "but it isn't". They would say, "oh yes it is, my uncle had a chivvy just like that". Ha..
Good advice all, "but do it well" is very to the point. What little I have to work with at this point, would almost...almost be fool proof. Keep it coming (comments), good or not. Rick.
The car or car parts as it is, is lying in a field waiting for me to pick up. Which I will do soon. It is very rough. My vision (they go along with the voices) is not to reproduce anything or mimick something...but to build as one HAMBer has said "...not a silk purse from a sows ear but a sows ear from pig doo"! Or something like that. The HAMB has been a guide...er...insperation to do SOMETHING. And a 1928-9 Model A Victoria, I think, would be SOMETHING.... Rick.
Actually, those "29 Vickys" are glass cars. I never knew anyone made those, but i recently saw one at the San Dimas car show. Really had me scratching my head until I realized it was glass. Interestingly enough, who ever did the molds used '28 AR front fenders to copy. I really want a pair of AR fenders for my RPU, but they'll have to be original Henry steel.
