U. S. ARMY - 24th signal Bn attached to the 24th inf div. in Augsburg Germany 1965 to 1967. drafted and the letter actually said Greetings you are hereby inducted into the armed forces of the USA etc etc.

It may be forgotten but that didn't stop it from being one of the toughest conflicts the 'Allies' were ever involved in. Much respect to you.

USAF, Currently deployed to Afghanistan, Tarin Kowt with Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force (CJSOTF) as a medic. OIF Vet.

 

USAF-Aircraft Avionics. Third generation Airman. My father and grandfather were also maintenance (Sat-Comm & MFE) and we've all worked on C-130's. My grandfather served in Korea, my father, in Desert Storm and me in OIF.

 

USMC (Force Recon) 71-75 (Laos/Cambobia) Dad was navy (50-54), my brother was USAF (79-03)

There's a HUGE USMC reunion site at "GunnyGaines.com". I called around (2762 ph calls!) and found 20 of the guys I had served with, we had a reunion in 98. Was FANTASTIC!! (and very healing)

USAF, P.O.L. 1990-Present, currently sitting in Kabul Afghansitan mentoring Afghan National Police. It would make you sick to know how much money we are dumping into this corrupt country. I know it makes me sick, I think of all the programs and services that are cut but there are $$BILLIONS$$ being poured into this shithole!!!

Step-Dad served in WWII, US Army, 42nd Rainbow Div, France/Germany

Mom was US Navy Nurse (met my father in Japan)

Uncle was USMC, Korea, Combat Photographer

U.S. Navy '80-'84 signalman (skivvy waver) forward deployed to Yokosuka Japan on U.S.S. Midway. I joined when I was 28!

 

Served in the US Army 71-73 Medical Co, BAMC, Ft Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX, Never made it out of country, but did unload burned-up heros from 'Nam from transports at Lackland and took them to BAMC.

Dad served in the Pacific in WWII. Ran over a land mine with his 6X6. Two POW's died, he broke his leg. His older brother was serving in the Army Air Corp, ferrying bombers to Europe, died in a plane crash. His younger brother served in Germany in the 50's.
Dad got home on his mother's birthday, went on to raise 4 kids, worked 42 years as a pipefitter in an oil refinery, now retired.

He taught me to work with my hands and head. I firmly believe he could build a house from scratch. Wire it, plumb it, paint, everything.

To all our veterans, thank you!

 

Machine gunner in the infantry 1969. Wounded three times. Last one landed me in Valley Forge Army Hospital for 7 months. Hot rodder before I went in, got back into hot rods a few years ago. Let's just say that I need an auto trans now.

U.S. ARMY DRAFTEE AUG 1967-1969 Went to Viet Nam on a Navy trooper ship, the USNS Barrett. Thought I was going to die on this boat when we hit a huge storm near Hawaii. I had left my beloved 55 Chevy at home with my girlfriend. She went to servicing all the boys at home while I was serving my country. I fooled her and lived thru the whole thing. Spent the most time in DONG TAM VIET NAM.

Active Duty (85-89) on board USS Lewis B. Puller (FFG-23) Chesty Puller, Six months on USS Sides, (FFG-14) for a deployment to the gulf, involved in the downing of the Iranian airliner

The rest of the time in Reserve ACU-1, Command unit Moffett Field, BCHGRP-1, Law Enforcement Unit Pt. Mugu, Navsea Port Hueneme.

Worked on F-18c's, served on the Nimitz during O.I.F. After that went UDP with the Marines to MCAS Iwakuni. Got out and moved to Boise finishing collage.

 

Thanks to all past & serving members of the Armed Forces, keep it up - you can do no wrong.

Me - Radio operator, Royal Signals - 1991-96, served in Belize, Bosnia, Borneo, France Belgium, Holland, the UK & the US, seems like a lifetime ago now, but wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again.
