Hope you have second thoughts about dumpin' it, and bring back it to its glory days. Bring'er back and go nostalgia racin'. After all you are............MR. GASSER!!
being in the right place at the right time . Never have been very lucky. Good buy , gasser it with big block .
What a great story, please keep us informed after the dudes visit you. That is about the coolest machine ever! Thanx bro. ~Sololobo~
Not yet...had to get a couple Chicago trips out of the way...hopefully, they're coming out this week, that's the plan...
Neat story. How cool would it be if the original builders from '65 bought it from you and restored it. Wonder if that hilborn injected small block is setting in a local garage corner somewhere?
Apparently, before the Pontiac coupe, they had a '55 Chevy gasser, and a Bantam altered...the gentleman I talked to is now retired and into street rods, but, I believe he mentioned his partner was still racing...I'll find out the whole scoop...
Well, both the original builders came out to my shop to see the car last weekend...great guy's!! They gave me some build photos that I have to get scanned so I can post them, and then, I'll post the rest of the story!
ARRRGGG!...Stupid scanner! I'm going to have to take the pics somewhere and have them transfered to a disc so I can upload them...they're really cool, worth waiting for... Ted...oh yeah, they recognized it immediately... junior stock...the body is SO rough, that it would probably require another body to restore, and if you do that, are you really restoring the car, or just building a clone?... ...the damage is more than likely from sitting in a dirt-floor chicken shed for nearly 35 years.. ...Bob, one of the owner/buiders, commented that he often thought about trying to find the car and returning it to the street, but, after seeing it's present condition, agreed it was too far gone to try and save...
Hello, I am the son of one of the original builders/owners, I have one picture from the time I thought you might enjoy.
Nothing is too far gone to fix. You have to just do it yourself so you can afford it. Looks like a neat project. Lippy
looks way better than my pontiac, sat in a marsh next to a farmers field for 20yrs, it should be on the road next year. Fix it, who cares if it takes a few years. Imagine the look on the original woners faces when you get it done and offer to let them take it for a spin. it would be worth all the hard work
Cool car! Do you have any more pics? It must be a strange feeling seeing this car re-emerging after so many years.
There is some sort of a chrome radius rod each end, just above the spring mounting point, but there looks to be nowhere near enough 'depth' to keep it under control.
