Is the 216 intake interchangeable with the 235 out of a 56 Chevy sedan. Need to find out soon and this place is full of the people that know. Thanks in advance. BJF
The alignment rings on a 235 intake are larger than the 216, and it won't bolt up to the stock 216 exhaust manifold.
They make adapter rings to fit the smaller intake on the larger engine. I imagine they could be used to fit a larger intake on the smaller engine as well.
I have a 56 235 in my 56 2 door wagon, I want to go to a dual carb set up and can only find (in my price range) intakes for the 216 and earlier 235. I guess I should have been more specific in my original question. I know I can get the adaptor rings but my main concern is where the intake bolts to the exhaust manifold. Car has new exhaust so I dont really want to go to the split headers.
216 intakes don't mate with original 235 exhaust and visa versa. I would go with a dual exhaust first, before adding more carburetion. With the available repro Fenton headers you can keep the original angled exhaust and add a second pipe. 216 dual intake and carbs works better on a street driven 235.
