perfect , you nailed the era.

  5. Man, car looks great!

I never noticed before that you had pieced this car together. Just yesterday I brought home tons of Model A parts. Most of it is 28/29 roadster parts. I scored some roadster doors that look like junk, but I had to save for guys like you who would love just some good pieces. I may be able to help you out if your interested in changing things around. Maybe you'll just leave it the way it is? Love your car, so I'd be happy to help. Keep us posted with more updates please, love looking.

Man, that thing is sweet! How about some tech info on how you built the doors. I need to build a set for my '28-'29 RPU.

Really is an awesome build. Please post a pic of the louvered panel by the trans for the boys. And a close up of the exhaust.

By the way, how was the drive home yesterday?

I'll start by saying this much. I am a fireman and not a metal fabricator. So, this may not be the proper way to do it. I used 10 gauge to make "door jambs" and the used 1 x 1 to "span the gaps" while the door was in place. For the top body line I just went to the local steel supply and bought some rectangle tube that matched the dimensions and used it for the door top. I reworked some Home Depot strap hinges for the door hinges and used a bear claw latch that I got off of the HAMB classifieds. For the door skin, I just used a sheet of 20 gauge cut to fit. The doors are straight and don't have a compound curve. It still needs more finish work, but it is functional and somewhat presentable. I looked for real roadster doors for a while, but people seemed to be pretty proud of them.

Thanks everybody for all the compliments. I'll work on getting some more pics of it posted. The drive home yesterday was quite the experience. I made home with only one stop (for fuel). The rain was so thick that I was actually choking on the water, but the car ran flawlessly. My wife took a video of me goin down the freeway I'll see if I can get it posted. You can't even see the car, just rooster tails.

    Hello,

Here is a link (hope it works) to my trip home from the show last weekend. They said it would rain, but wow, it really poured. We survived the flood of 2010!

  29. I warned ya didn't I :) the passes were pretty scetchy in my 98 pickup, can't imagine how crazy they'd be in your roadster. Glad you (and the AV8) made it home OK.
