Paul Leffler was one of the 'old school' owners/builders that did it all, much like Meskowski, Shepared and the like. BTW- Greg Leffler, 79 USAC sprint champ is his son. Don't think Jason Leffler is any relation to them unless it's in some kind of roundabout shirt tail way. Just a coincidence of names I think.

Jason is from Long Beach, CA originally. As a kid he was hanging around P.J. and Page Jones' shop so much they put him to work. That landed him a ride in a Don Vesco-sponsored TQ that was a visual clone of the Willoughby #71 midget that Page drove at the time. He was hammer-down from the get-go. I remember him qualifying the full midget at Ventura at an ESPN Sat. Night Thunder show and he hauled it into one and didn't lift. He did so many endos I lost count.
ESPN happened to have an in-car camera mounted in Jason's ride. I think the footage ended up in their opening credits.

I'm thinking those are the green foam-like filters that they use on MC carbs.

The Sept. 22, 2010 issue of National Speed Sport News, page 20 and 21, has a interesting article about Denney Zimermman. Most 71 year olds are looking for a power chair! Not Mr. Zimermman, his seat is in a midget. Real Nice article, also has info on Jimmy Maguire.

designs that work, Thanks for the notice. Tell you what (maybe I too was that good back in the day) but these kids today are REALLY good. I'm in a really good car, busting my butt and haven't won yet. It's still fun tho. Denny Z

Sometimes refered to as "socks." Here's a "tech tip" : When they get soaked in methanol and you get a backfire, they become most excellent for roasting marshmellows.:D

Buildy, There is no club per say. It's Whip City Speedway in Westfield Mass. They call it 1/4 mi, it is more like 1/5 mi dirt (dirt that's racing sideways). They run Quad4 midgets (which I drive) and what they call mini sprints. The Quad4s are regular midget chassis with Quad4 engine strictly stock no wings. The mini sprints are same midget chassis but with motorcycle engine and wings. There is no club just show up pay $25/person at the front gate and $15 for the midget. I gotta run now when I get back I will try and post a picture. Denny Z

Not exactly a sprint car but it is pre-1969! This is a roadster(duh) owned by hopkins1 and being brought back to life by Wynns #1. I'll let Joe or Bob explain the details of who built it, who ran it, who did work on it, and what the plans are for it if you guys are curious.

    Curious is an understatment-LOL

Looks like the car Jim Rathman drove for Smokey Yunick in 1961-62 at Indy if I had to guess.
