So I know that there has probably been thousands of posts and threads on this, but I don't care to rile up dust on a year old post for no reason. I just read the old article about Jim Jard's recreation and I got to wondering, after the magazine article, did the added interest end up in anyone finding the actual car? If not, then has anyone here looked specifically for it? Do you know of it's location, like a snot nosed collector or in some old guys shed, waiting for that right guy to come along? Posted are some pictures.
One of JeffreyJames' favorites, I believe. The car looks so fast sitting still. I don't believe anyone knows the car's whereabouts.
Satan, Ol Scratch, Beelezebub, The Devil has been part of hot rod iconography since day one, lawlessness and living/dying on the edge is what gives this lark teeth. I'm a big fan.
There's been a couple bitchin re-creations. I seen one in the suede pallace at the GNRS a couple years ago and it was RRRRAAAADDDDDDDDD!!
I am with all of you guys, this car is and will most likely always be one of my absolute favorites. It is so impeccable and bad ass. I wish I had one of those cool reproductions.
I'd likely crush a car that had been named Satan it's whole life. Makes no sense to me at all. Some things you just don't do or mess with. Naming a car Satan is one of them.
Anybody got a better shot of the shirts the guys are wearing in the second pic? Looks like they're using the grill artwork and...???
Haha. Many historically significant texts, artifacts, and structures have been lost to this same kind of thinking for over a thousand years. Looks like this car may have been a victim too eh? Sigh. That car rules. Hail Satan.
That for sure is my favorite Hot Rod of all time. It's just so fucking cool I can hardly stand it. I own every magazine that it originally appeared in and even an unopened Monogram Model Roadster version of the Satan Coupe. It's the reason I own a '32 5w It's the reason I plan on running a hemi It's the reason I covet a 4x2 intake for it It's the reason I'll run skinny slicks It's the reason I'll Run Moon Caps It's the reason I may Chrome the Dash It's the reason I'll paint my car blue with a white (not yellow) interior It's the reason I love Hot Rodding so much. I also love the way it sits and the I love the single push bar that's abnormally tall! As stated in previous thread the car originated in California and then moved to Philly where it was actually turned into the Satan coupe. I'd probably bet money it's a Street Rod now and will be lost forever but stranger things have happened. I mean there's just so much surrounding this car I can't believe that someone wouldn't step up and know where it is. Maybe in a collection....I hope. I can't wait to build my version of this car.
It was one of the philadelphia modifiers cars ,They have been in touch for the recreation ,Nobody knows where the car is.
That car rules!!! I am with you Jeffery and cannot wait to see what you create. Hell, maybe you can call your coupe the "Son of Satan" when its done.......lol
I am with you, I love everything about this car. I hope it is in a private collection, but that would also suck, some snob keeping it to themselves. Rude. I am pretty sure that no one would paint over that gorgeous paint job, and even if they did, the amount of publicity this car has about it, you think they would sand off that top layer to show through to the satan inside!
I have a bad feeling that it could be one of those cars that is right in front of our noses as a high-tech street rod or something. I could have happened. which would suck.
