The Fly by Knights of Santa Clarita, Skeeter and the Coachmen out of Ventura and the Van Nuys Cruising Association along with the Wild Bunch Car Club are co-sponsoring the "Mojave Mile"...The goal here is to get a mile long caravan cruising to the show at Gene's shop on October 23rd... There will be meet ups in Ventura merging with the San Fernando Valley and then heading up to Santa Clarita where we will hit the 14 freeway and cruise on up to Gene's... All you guys from the east are welcome too...Gene's show is pre-65, but the cruise is not... More info to come soon.....
The Ventura cruisers will meet the valley cruisers at Coco's, 10841 Sepulveda Blvd in Mission Hills. Coco's is located right next to the 118. Get off at Sepulveda Blvd and go north...Leaving Coco's @ 8:00 am to head to Santa Clarita and meet the Fly by Knights at the 14 & Newhall Ave (formerly San Fernando Rd). From there, head up the 14, picking up people along the way until we reach Gene's shop around 10:15... Due to the tremendous response, Gene has now added additional catergories for later model cars and everyone is welcome. For more details on the show go to www.aeclassics.com/rod_tossers or www.facebook.com/flybyknights See you all there.....
Not to be confused with the "Mojave Mile" landspeed shootout at the Mojave airport on Sept 25-26. Speeds in excess of 250 mph expected!
Hopefully there won't be any confusion...Didn't hear about the landspeed run until after we started promoting the Winfield cruise...Seeing as one is in September and the other in October it will keep the confusion to a dull roar....
Stop in & see my buddy Tom at Fosters Freeze @ http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=5669480#post5669480 Jim
If you're not in a rush, you might get off the 14 at Soledad / Shadow Pines and take Soledad Canyon road through the hills. It re-connects to the 14 just before Palmdale and avoids the long grades & big rigs on the 14. The county just re-paved a long section of the road so it's a pretty smooth ride.
The BF and I are leaving early in our regular car and we are going to take a drive over the "musical road" on Avenue G in North Lancaster and then to breakfast at one of the AV's best kept secrets, Foxy's Landing, at the Fox Airfield. We'll probably be hitting the Winfield compound around 10 or 11. A safe drive to all! See you there!
THis is cool might join in my "new" truck, but whatever I'll sit towardsthe back... As far as going though Soledad Caynon that ride is horribly boring. Maybe I'm wrong but isnt a cruise done to be seen? The only one looking at the awesome rides in motion will be the lizards and crickets of Soledad Caynon..
After all the rain the parking ought to be fun! i hope gene has done something to make parking a little easier, and also let the CHP know this is going on so their is no problems again.
