  1. Are those 57 plymouth caps???? that "peak" in the center makes me think so.

Mmm, maybe. It would fit the theme. The peak is right but not sure about that edge treatment. Google came up with this...

Cool, thanks. So they were accessory covers for 14" wheels? I didn't think to check the size of the wheels and tyres. To bring this thread hijack back closer to the topic, was it common for East Coast style rods to use 14" wheels to help lower them even further? If so, when did 14" wheels start being used?

  4. Around 1957, most of the car makers started to go to 14 inch wheels. I know for sure that Chevrolet went in 1957. Do't really know that it was an East Coast thing, though.-MIKE:cool:

  5. I aways ran 14s front and 15s rear. Let's see if I recall correctly. 7.25s and 8.55s

I'll have to get more history on this 32. A friend has owned it since the 70's and bought it from another friend back then.
These pic's are after a recent restoration, all work done by it's owner. It's Ford powered.
Pretty sure it's always been a West coast car and in this style since at least the 60's.

I thought I was going crazy, but I read post by post and nobody said anything. The bottom picture started the thread so I thought that someone should make the connection.

If you look close you can see Ron sitting in second picture! The pictures were taken for a high school newspaper.

Funny thing is, it was built in Norfolk, Nebraska. Look in my signature. You can read about the find - part 1
    The build- part 2

Grab a beer, it's going to take a while!;)

I love this thread. And I would love to see more vintage pictures of any North Carolina hot rods.

I think I can throw my 34 into the ring, the body was in Psycho Cycle's shop in NYC for years. It was channeled once although I have no idea what it originally looked like.
I finally found a 33 Desoto grille like the one on the Bluebird.

Nads, that DeSoto grille makes it! The shiny steel slots are cool too, it's the right vibe... being from the midwest, I always thought those came with rust out of the box.

The worst, that's why you never see them although I remember millions of them being around in the 70s.

So it's Sunday night. I'm drinking some Negra Modelos and thinking about east coast hot rods. Any one have more pictures? Or anyone building a east coast styled hot rod?
