    I'm on the fence.

Straight looks more traditional, like a mini Merc.

Slanted looks more swoopy, but odd at certain angles.

    What do you guys think?

I like the flow better with the slanted posts.

    Coupe = slanted
Tudor Sedan = straight, otherwise the rear quarter windows look too long to me.

I just chopped a '49 Merc coupe, and went with slanted B pillars. Shoebox Fords can go both ways gracefully because of the really long quarter windows. But I like straight across the board better as from any angle, the roof looks right. Slanted, if done too extreme and/or slanted too much can make the car look like dogdick from the front and rear quarter views. Why put so much work into a custom car if it's only going to look nice from one angle?

I dunno...one of my favorites, Dave York's, is heavily chopped (6") and has straight pillars...looks perfect to me.

I personally prefer them straight on a mild chop, and slanted on a radical chop for a shoebox. I like them straight on a Merc no matter how much it is chopped.

Tent posts? Really? Get your head checked.

Depends On the chop it's a little new age to slant the "B" pillar. If your laying it way down in the back slant them...

But for those who have a brain in their head, they would Go traditional.

    Don't slant them!

I think slanted pillars goes better with the lines of a chopped car, both Mercurys and Fords.

Slanted for sure. Gives the appearance of motion while standing still.

Straight glass edges on a hardtop chop. You just can't beat it.

Here's Buster Litton's Ford (with the windows down) :)

  20. Done right both are complementary to the lines. Only a few examples. Now having the talent to pull it off is another thing.

Completely depends on the chop AND the body style. For example hardtop chops. Hardtop a sedan and it looks longer than a coupe. So it all depends on the chop AND the body style. As long as the pillar does NOT cause your eye to stop and notice it then you done good. It's when something makes your eye STOP is when your flow lines are off.

So either way, just make sure there's a reason for it.

Slanted only look right on some cars. Club coupes for example. On a sedan it fucks up the flow especially on one with lots of chop. It makes the C pillar look huge. I love the green car that was posted but the pillars should be straight. Here is mine with 4" down in the front and 5 1/2" in the rear.
