Heres one of mine with patina and without. Just have a hard time not fixing them. Guess its the way I am programmed.

  2. HAHAHA! Good one. Patina sucks, that's why they have body shops.

A few friends 55/57...patina is not always a bad thing. I would rather see a old race car/hot rod with patina more than a overly restored car anyday...

I only spent about $300 for paint for my 55, at my local jobber. But it's good old fashioned Nason acrylic enamel....not that really expensive modern stuff.

My '55 with patina and my '56 "Rug Rat" old race car........I like patina becasue it is different that a belly button shiney tri-five like you see at Goodguys and every 2 bit cruise night with a cry baby doll.

Saw these at the LARS 2008. The cool '57 was for sale, wonder who owns it now...

Bingo! "Patina" dosn't belong on a beautiful automobile like the 5,6 & 7 Chevrolets. Leave it for the Fords!

  11. Was beyond patina, now almost back on the road. Funny the things you do to save a car !!!

Maybe it was a Tri five then it was scrapped and came back as a Pontiac Fiero in the 80's, then it was scrapped and came back as a 2008 Hyundai!

Ive been there and done that with the show cars. Now I'm enjoying the simple things in life. I'm not saying I wouldnt build another car that will have a base/clear paint job but the car has to be the right one. Raising a family and my son just starting college finances will not allow me to just throw several thousand to complete rebuild and paint a car right now.

I can appreciate a well excuted build just like several other cars on the hamb, but it's really cool to see cars that have stood the test of time. For some cars they have sat outside for several years, some tucked away in a garage then a someone buy them and makes them road worthy and we all get to enjoy the past paint, primer, rust, chrome. For me it doesn't matter what kind of car it is as long as it sits right. I think Lippy and So Cal Tex and several others on here have it spot on...
