That is a review made by some left wing liberal with a page to push his opinoin on everyone.

I've watched this movie numerous times - yes numerous. It never gets old to me. I don't understand how you could call yourself a "car guy" and pick apart anything in this movie.

Why do people say there's no plot? There was a plot - to race a couple cars arcross the US!

I don't think they could have made this movie any better by casting other actors of the time. The two had just the crude amount of attitude - how could THAT be any better. What makes this movie Cool, is that theres nothing else like it out there and I'm glad for it!

Okay. Let’s re-set it in the late-1930s. G.T.O. is a ruined banker in a nearly new Buick Century, and the Driver and the Mechanic are in a stripped down Model A Ford with a hot four banger.

The girl can be an Oakie instead of a hippie. Instead of heading east from California, we have them leaving the dust bowl for the orange groves and the promise of work. Driver and Mechanic need to money they make from racing to finance their trip, and G.T.O. is just trying to forget all of the farms he’s foreclosed and how he got caught embezzling.

How about Will Smith as the Driver?! Hollywood just loves to shove him in just about every kind of movie role so it appeals to a "universal" audience. By the way, I like Woody Harrellson as the Mechanic and Mickey Rourke as "GTO" is quite easy to imagine and it even sounds like something he'd like to do. Let's throw Hilary Swank in there as the Hippie chick. Now the part that's gonna piss off everyone is the fact that I think in no way, should a '55 Chevy be used. Like the original movie, a used-up & abused 15 year old homebuilt car is racing against newer store-bought stock Musclecars. Don't get me wrong now, 'cuz I love '55 Chevys but I think they have become too old now as classics and the younger generation just flat-out does NOT relate to them. It really needs to be a Primer'd late-'80's Fox-bodied Mustang. Like it or not, they have become the modern-day '55 Chevy's.....cheap and plentiful and unstead of the plug-changing debacle, the Mechanic is riding shotgun while constantly adjusting the fuel map with a lab-top computer on his lap in this high-8-second street racin' 'Stang! Naturally, we'd still have a '55 Chevy and a GTO short cameo in the movie and maybe even a father/son relationship deal to connect solidly to the first movie. Maybe one of the younger Driver/Mechanics gives his dad some good-natured trouble about that old '55 Chevy dinosauer that's been parked in the garage and hasn't moved in over 35 years. All right now.....I feel like I have just devoted a little too much thought into a thread that I never even wanted to comment on in the first place, but it's done now. Now somebody, start writing checks and let's get it done!

    Little Richard as "the girl"
    Melissa Ethridge as "the mech"
    Pauley Shore as "the driver
    and lastly
    Jennifer Lopez as "GTO"

as if this movie couldn't suck worse than it already does. Great car stuff, but a piece-o-poo as far as movies go

Boyd's been taking a dirt nap for a couple years now...

Hetfield would be a good driver, though! Lars could be GTO, hes about as full of it.

I like TLBT, but the original "Gone in Sixty Seconds"...now that is painful to watch! Cage's movie actually had a plot, decent acting, and much better dialogue...not to mention, better cars (I'll take a modified '67 over a "Clydesdale" any day"! One of the few cases where the remake is better than the original.

OK, lets get serious. jason statham as the driver. (even though hes a little old) jack black of the white stripes as dennis wilson. dennis leary as GTO works. some fresh-faced litlle unknown as the girl. plenty of casting options for the smaller roles. i would think you'd have a long list of actors in line for tha chance to appear in this. an icononic american flick.

That sounds like a good cast!
