Yep! I drove it for the first time with the v8 on Friday. I have a brake bug to work out and a lot of little minor things to deal with, but it will be at the Pileup. Unfortunately, there's no time to address all the rust holes

I hope it's not too disappointing. I took it for a drive on Friday. I barely tapped the accelerator and the tires squealed. :D I'm waiting for my kids to fall asleep for nap time right now so I can get out there and knock some more things of my to do list

One of these, a 62, just popped up on Craigslist by me. Says it runs and drives good, flat black, needs body work here and there, on some old Centerlines. I saw it and fell in love. Dude wants 1500 for it. How are these little straight sixes on gas?

And this is a Photoshop of what I'd like to build, just for the hell of it.

A 62 probably has a 144, maybe a 170. The small 6s do ok on gas, but not as huge of a savings as you'd think. Don't forget, it's geared like a truck. Mine had a 170. I don't know what the MPG was like, but I have a lead foot.

Flat black and "needs body work" sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Only a few patch panels are available for these things.

I have been working on lowering mine for awhile, finally got it back on the ground to see how it looks. I am pretty stoked on the result.

I flipped the axles front and rear, the drop ended up being 4-1/2" in the back and 5" in the front.

I c-notched the rear frame rails about 2", all is well I have loads of travel.

The front - well that's a different story. I have about 2" of travel before the axle bottoms out on the stock rubber bump stops, surprisingly it takes a lot of bouncing to get it to bottom out. I am definitely going to have to roll the front fender lips as the front of the tire catches the fender when turning, I am also going to have to make a little more room in the front fender well.

I shortened the stock drag link 1-3/8", I have no evidence of bumpsteer, and no rubbing or binding problems.

Next up, put the disc brakes and dual master cylinder on, then body work, paint then...

There's a 5 window P/U in a back yard near my house that I want REAL bad. It hasn't moved in a few years. I don't have the place for it, let alone the Rods I've got already, otherwise I'd be pounding down the guys door...

I got my brother to buy a driving '67 Chevy van for $300.00 just in case I can find some room somewhere soon.
Yeah, Winfields Eco was Bitchin'. I'd love to make SOMETHING like that. maybe a phantom extended cab P/U out of the Chevy van...

Read through this guy's blogs. One of the posts is about restoring a wing window and IIRC he covers installation, too

Not right now. I just did a bunch of work on it, it's still junk, but I'm revealing it at the Pileup. It will be nice eventually.

I got to drive it last night. Oh boy does a v8 make a HUGE difference! It stops now.. but now I have a big intake oil leak. It's always something

  26. I just added these pics to the 60's Van thread but I'll post them here also. I just picked up this 71 Econo for a very good price, haven't seen it in person yet but it's a driver and I like the look.

I'm running split bumperettes. My front and rear were made from from 4 sets of 70 camaro bumpers of all things.

the Harvery's van that dog did has a 62 chevy bumper flipped upside dow, and the ends were extended. Much ballsier looking than the original.

Years back, I saw an E with Model A bumpers. Actually fit pretty good.
