Ok, I searched and found what I need to do (adjust the 1st gear band) to make my PG quit acting goofy in first. (53 BelAIr, 35K miles). Now, the car sat for 35 years in a barn with a dirt floor. The inderside is caked with very hard to remove Georgia Red Clay Mud/Dirt. I am having trouble identifying exactly which screw does the adjusting. I spent the better part of an hour scraping mud of the trans and its still messy and hard to see. Which part on this photo (that I shamelessly stole form the web) am I looking to adjust?
it has been flushed twice now. It's doing the bit where it wont engage in 1st (warm only) until the throttle is pressed and revs come up.
well, I treid adjusting the one under the cap above the linkage and now the car is immobile.................out, in, it doesnt matter.........no more 1st gear, it just revs free
