Brake scoops hand made for Wilson Welding backing plates.

    I made these some time ago and we are starting to put the frame together for the three window, The backing plates loog great chromed just thought i would share the pics.
    Mike Hamer and dollie on the hamb did the rough in work for these scoops

    10 gauge steel shapped and welded in a lot of hand work stainless screen to keep the big chunks out. tried to keep the radius and shape close to the same style of the backing plate.

    I used a little silicon bronze to fill in some areas before plating. Keeping the backing plate from warpping was the bigest challange.

  10. Having just fitted some British cast scoops meant for a larger diameter brake AND clearing all the shit on the back side makes me think yours are pretty rad!

    Very nice, Rex! I made a similar scoop for the backing plates on my coupe back in '06. I only had time to make one, and I still haven't made the driver's side scoop....most people don't even notice there's only one.

    Thanks again for showing me around a few weeks ago.

    Making the backing plates was kinda fun a lot of time went into them, i would love to work out some more of these tweek the style can't make the same part that just no fun, the 10 gauge plays hell with my arms. might try something similar on my sedan if it ever gets that far.
