Was it 6" on tha angle of the A pillar or 6 " of verticle drop? My favorite chop ever on a Merc, perfect flow !! I might be scoring a rough coupe shell and your chop is what I would like to try and come close to .

Sho nuff, here they is! The maroonish brownish car and the car in the backyard have the same chop more or less, the car in the yard is Ryan's car, the ex four door. The maroonish car I sent you the email of in my garage giving you some deja vu (with its 50 ford tail lites haha) I like the overall look of this cut, and I think the straight pillar chop looks good from all angles, whereas the slanted looks shoved forward from front quarter and rear quarter view. Just my opinion. Oddly enough I came across this thread looking for that pic of your car in the snow, got it now!

    Here's the two 51s

Your old Merc has to be on the list of best profiles ever on a Merc. Very Kool! I
understand your thoughts on the straight post idea but I would have to chop it
like your old one. Why would you change puffection?

    Happy Trails, Mick

  11. 3" masking tape wrapped around A-piller and 4" virtically taken out of the C-piller. Makes for about a 2 5/8" front 4" back chop. Tilted B-piller. Moved the rear window forward about 3 inches. No really good side shot.

Here is mine. Chopped different than the others. My top was moved back, not forward when chopped. Plus the roof was cut down the middle and widen out to keep the doors and windows straight just like from the factory. The point at the front of the roof was removed and a one piece windshield was installed.

Extra bonus points for getting it right with a 51 back window. Very nice work.

Glassguys merc is total perfection. It looks a mile long and incredibly sinister.

A 51 with 51 rear glass is tough to do. Gettin out of em when they're broke down and on a trailer is tougher.

Great thread! Thanks for bringing it back up.

Mine was chopped in North Platte, Nebraska in 1971 by a guy named Red Welch. Pretty heavy chop for that time period.
