Any of you guys able to help out with identifying a Divco van? My brother has one on a property of his south of San Jose... I have a few pics I'm in the process of uploading at the moment... It has a flathead 6 in it, according to a tag above the drivers seat, bore is 3 5/16.. no idea of stroke or capacity though... The same tag also tells us it has a 5.14:1 diff ratio.. but we couldn't see a VIN or anything else... the van has been rolled down a hill and come to rest against a tree, with such force that the engine is now at about a 45 degree angle to where it used to be... but still intact
Can't help with identifying it but I'll tell ya, they weren't fuckin' around when they "parked it" against that tree. LOL
it's half way down the side of a f'ing steep hill... I (we) think it was parked up the top and pushed as a joke at some point, and it just happened to hit what is about the only tree on the side of the hill..
Im a lettering geek, and the Font for the 'gallagher co.' is freaking me out its that cool..thats better than any House industries shit right there!
Thanks guys... Scrapiron: we did find a casting number on the head, which it turned out had been read wrongly, and seems to confirm that it's the Continental 226 you mention...
He would love someone to take it away.... the local tow truck drivers refuse to even come and look at it, as it's going to be a real challenge to get out...
" ID'ing a Divco Van" Arent they all ugly? just kidding, I really like the pics, These are worth saving to the hard drive. Thanks for sharing moe .
Wow, looks like the tree hardly bent the bumper and you didn't even bump your head oh, those Divco's .
From the factory there was a tag above the windshield on the passenger side. Also the vin number was stamped on the frame rail passenger side close to the fan blade. First 3 numbers would be the the model number.
