My "new" 1931 Ford Coupe

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by xadamx, Aug 24, 2010.

  1. The only thing I'd change is the wear indicators on the tires, by driving the hell out of it.

    Sweet trade.

The tires are 5.00/16 in front, and 7.00/16 in the rear.

That coupe is ridiculously NICE!!!! I'd leave IT alone and enjoy the wide open road. Adam, you always seem to pull of some nice Hot Rods or Customs. Maybe a hood and sides with custom louvers for the winter? That's the only thing I would add. Congrats!!!

Touch nothing. That car is perfect and I love the body color coupled with the wheel color.

The name of the color is Dark Neutral and I think it's PPG. It's a chocolate brown with a weird plum hue to it...really hard to explain but I think you can see it a little in the photos. After sunset, it looks black. I got the wheels back this morning(a few days early) from Scott at S&S Powdercoating here in Santa Cruz, and went directly to the tire shop. Got home and then threw 'em on. Totally different car...

  12. only thing I would ditch would be the cowl lights and leave the way it is.. nice ride !

They are 15"...fronts are 5.60/15 and the rears are L-78's. They stuck out past the rear fenders, it bothered me. Here are a couple shots with the old ones...

Cool as hell! Nice trade! That car has got the perfect look and stance! And you gained windows and a finished interior to boot! :D

  18. Leave that beautiful car alone man, just get out there and enjoy driving it. Absolutely love the colour also, it seems solid colours are in fashion again and one other thing I have noticed is the rarity of full fendered A's & B's so please,I know it is your car, but I think the votes are going to leave it as is.

I usually do not make comments about the changes a owner might make ...

    BUT ...

I would not change a thing on it. I am not really known as a Model A guy, but your little coupe really does it for me. :) :)

    Nice ...
    And I rarely say NICE about Model A's ... :D :D

Very sharp! I like the restraint the builder used with this car.

i was in Santa Cruz awhile back and saw you driving your '35 (to work i presume). I was in a hurry to get home so i didn't stop by and say hello. Bummer you got rid of that ride, but very stoked on yer new one. super clean coupe!
    hope all is well?
Pm me with your new digits, would love to chat, it's been awhile:(

Looks like you never made the move to the East Coast as well.

Yeah, that car was my daily for a while. I lost steam on it because this random guy knew where there was a '32 3W he could get his hands on, and he wanted to trade it for my '35. He led me on for several months(promising pictures and saying he had a deposit on the car, and it was as good as mine), but I kept going along with the plan...the prospect of getting a '32 was too alluring. He liked my coupe the way it was, so I stopped working on it. During those months, I realized how much I missed Model A's and the sound of a flathead. When I found out the guy was full of s*&# and the '32 deal wasn't going to pan out, I started trying to sell my '35 or trade for a cool '28-31 or a '32 project. I found that coupe down near Bakersfield. I'm very happy with it. Swing by the shop or the house next time you're in SC...

    Adam

PS- I pm'd my number to ya...

    That's a really good looking AV8!!

    Nice trade!

    Definitely worth it!

Love the fender and the un-chopped as well!

A contrast between all the other Rods!

    Enjoy it!

    Nice little Flathead mill too.

    HC.

  26. very clean. i like it how it is with the exception of those long rear fenders.
definate candidate for bobbing, and then you may as well chop it, and then..... lol.
congrats on a great score. enjoy it.
