This one looks like it might have been shot at the old Irwindale dragstrip maybe? I've got a shot or two of their '64 model year racecar lying around the house somewhere.

Not the best centered picture but you guys calling for more '62s have me really digging into my closets.

For those who like '62s, here is a picture from the 6-25-10 issue of "National Dragster" of a good running stocker in the midwest. If the car is running in E/SA, it's probably a 383ci motor with 2 4bbls (in line) rated @ 343 HP. This combo has always been competitive (even before the max wedges appeared) in NHRA class racing, but it is relatively rare.

Any of you have any information on the '63 Savoy called "HOSS" in the attached picture? My father just purchased the car and would love to know the racing history on it. I've been looking and haven't been able to find anything on it. All I know is that it raced in in the Phillidelphia/Detroit area. Thanks so much.

FunnyCar65, thanks for the great pics of some Southern s/s and f/x cars (posts 813-815). The 62 (not Bill Tanner) is a classic. Do you know where they were taken?

We ran against the "Gene's" car at Conn Dragway in '68. I forget the guys name that drove it. He came over to our pit, looked at our car and said something like, if he had a car that looked that bad he'd be ashamed to show up at the track, or something to that effect.
We beat him like a stepchild in eliminations!
Didn't even need to protest the fact that the car has an altered wheelbase.
