Tonight while hanging out on Woodward - an awesome spectacle, esp. for a Wednesday night - I'm standing in line to take a leak at the Shell station and who joins the line with me but Linda Vaughn! What a sweetie! On the way out, George Barris walks up and chats too.

I headed over and got my dad. He gave her a big hug and told her that the last time he hugged her was while racing at the '68 Indy U.S. Nationals. Made my old mans night.

    F' in COOL!

Just had to share it with you cats. Woodward rocks. Oh - needless to say, the cars.....man the cars.

Wednesday, Late August, Metro Detroit. Its amazing. The Woodward Dreamcruise has evolved from a one Saturday a year Marketing Cruise Event to a Summer Long, Car fanatic rolling car extravaganza. I was out there last night as well and was astonished by the variety of autos and the love for them. People show up, run their cars, park in lots, sit in chairs, walk their dogs. Ive been attending for 7 years, each year im more impressed by the turnout than the last. Everything from the Spyder 3 Wheel Trikes to Rat Rods, even saw a Kaiser Darrin! The Cruise in the past was over run with 70s muscle, this year they are closely matched with 50-60s classics and Zoomie Rods.

I'm just gettin' ready to leave the house and head on up there... Can't wait! This thing will be going on till Sunday.. Saturday is going to be packed with over 40,000 cars and about 1.5 million people up and down Woodward Ave. I just hope I don't get roasted like last year. I'll post some great pictures later tonight when I get home. Hope to see ya's out there today! :D If your heading there today, enjoy the show!!..... Later! :)

Shameless plug here.... I think Linda and Barris are going to be based at Booth Arons Racing Enterprises, 3861 W. Twelve Mile Rd. in Berkley this week.

Man I wish I was there :(. Here are a couple of links for those who can't make it this weekend ;).

This one is a live cam from Woodward Ave. from Hagerty's website.

This one is from Autoline. They have recorded video you can watch
and are live from 6pm to 8pm

Btw here is where I'll be this weekend :D http://www.lakemontparkfun.com/kruisinweekend.html

Neat old amusement park in Altoona PA they let Hot Rods park in the park
they get several hundred cars. Real nice weekend for the family. This will be my 3rd year. It was started by a local car club (Kruisn Kompany). Last year was suppost to be the last one, the club felt it was too much for them and the amusement park agreed to continue with it. :)

  9. I'll be there Saturday with the Motor City Auto Art Mavens in the park(don't remember the name)at 13 Mile & Woodward slinging some paint for charity.I actually get to bring the Safari out this year(after a 3 year hiatus)and am psyched about that.

For those not in the area,I believe WXYZ(local TV channel 7)carries coverage of the Cruise on their website as well as broadcasting live all day Saturday.Check it out and if you're in the neighborhood stop by and say hello and buy some art(shameless commercialism).:D

Where are all the traditional rods and rat rods getting together on Saturday? Is there a spot where HAMBers hang out?

Took my 29 A out last night and made it down to Dugan's irish pub and turned back north. Really busy for a Wednesday night!

Best bet is to hit the Shell station at Woodward and Chester.

(BTW - I'm building Model A now - I get the feelin' you're an A-bone driver as well and also in R.O.? ....drop me a PM and I'll have you over for a couple o'beers some time in near future).
