and I salute all the vets and their families, thanks for your service,... Just visited the moving VietNam Wall while it was on display in Chowchilla last Saturday... there are way too many names on that wall.

USAF '68-'88. Hardship tour HQ PACAF '76-'79. Sometimes it sucks to be me. Sometimes it doesn't.

    Cheers -- Gary

  11. You are supposed to be weekend warriors. The Guard has one job and one job only that is to protect Americans on American Shores.

That said I'm sorry that they changed the rules on ya. I do really appreciate everything that you do.

    keep safe.

Nobody changed the rules. Since 1903 and it's creation, the National Guard can be Federalized at any time the risk is deemed serious enough by Congress and the President. It's been that way for over a hundred years as far as I know. Many of the troops in the Civil War, WWI and WWII were National Guard troops.

Several of the types of jobs that are only needed in war time are National Guard and Reserves. So that the specialized equipment or types of units are less expensive to maintain and keep in the inventory.

Roger that, although sometimes it seems like only yesterday. The sound of a Huey rotor still makes me want to throw a smoke grenade:)

When I went to college on the GI Bill I worked part time in the VA office. My boss was a real sweet little southern lady, but man would she get steamed when the VA made mistake after mistake after mistake. Other than her, I think the only people that give a damn about veterans are other veterans, the government sure doesn't.
