Crazydaddyo what size of an order would you need to inspire you to make the Jeep T5 adapter?

All of the V-8 units are sold. But you can use the Model A unit with the V-8 torque tube by using the model A ball flange and Clam shell.

Doing a photo shoot for a Mag tech article this week end.

    Dan,
I'm glad this thread popped back up again, as I've been meaning to ask you about an adapter plate and clutch setup to suit a GM gearbox to an original model A bellhousing, which I believe is what you run in your T.
I hope I'm not out of line in asking you if you also have these available for purchase?

Is it the same adapter as in a 37-54 chevy torque tube?

If I am right, I believe you are asking if you can use his adapter to bolt a Chevy torque tube to a 4x4 gearbox ........ Then the answer is yes.

You've just got overcome the differences b/w GM and Ford spline on the output shaft

Here is and adapter that I just made for Stovebolt for a Chevy t-5 to AA bell housing. This fits the stock Model A flywheel housing:

so how much more does this cost compared to just getting an open drive conversion for the rear?

I am thinking about the same or cheeper because you don't need to have a custom drive shaft made.
You can you the stock bones.
If you go open you have to run a 3rd link to take the place of the T tube

You likely will have to shorten the torque-tube and driveshaft...

You choose this option, not for cost, but for keeping your torque-tube & rear suspension intact. There is almost no other reason. Open driveshaft is likely cheaper.

Check out the article in the May, 2011 issue of Hot Rod Deluxe magazine on page 82. Steve Serr of the Miller Hi-Speed Head Co. makes all the parts to adapt a T-5 tranny to the Ford closed driveshaft axles. Their number is: 805-509-0893.

Ok, I'm late to this dance.. but I just bought a model A coupe and want the look iof the old rear... want to go with a late flathead and 5 spd and discovered this link just today... (have had t5s in mustangs and put one in my avatar (at the time of that writing my avatar was a 38 Plymouth coupe (the one that bunred to the ground), with a flat 6 and a mustang t5 with an s10 tailshaft), loved it
Went to Miller's site, nuthin there listing any of these parts.
    CDO:
Typical questions you've likely answered a hundred times...
    What year chevy 4x4 T5?
If you shorten the TT, do you need to relocate the radius rods or do you split the wishbones if needed (I've seen the pics where they are not split)
    Are the kits available?

I put a 84-87 F150 fully synchronized 3 speed with overdrive in my A, using an adapter for the torque tube, very similar to the first picture in this thread.
    Its a great transmission.

Can only answer the one part, if you shorten the torque tube, you should retain the radius rods and shorten them to suit, still attached to the torque tube. You cannot use a torque tube and split radius rods on the same axle.

The trans comes from mid to late 80's Chevy S-10 or GMC S-15 trucks.
They are the only years that the T-5 came in the 4x4 trucks.

The Wishbones have to be shortened.

Kits are available from Steve Serr. at Phone: (805) 647-2766
    Fax: (805) 647-7578.

    Thanks.

    Anyone interested?

Just came across this thread an I am interested in this setup. I want to put a t-5 trans behind my flathead in my '37 and keep the enclosed driveline. I am interested in purchasing an adapter

  23. All this talk of shortening radius rods..... it's not necessary. I shortened my 47 tt and driveshaft by 18". I just cut the mounting bracket off the tt and welded it on in the new position. Much easier than shagging around shortening the rods.

You're right, of course, but the later rears do have the shortest radius rods already, you may not be able to do this on an earlier rear.

I'm almost finished with my conversion.....I have shortened the model a driveshaft with a coupler at the rear...I'm using a Halibrand 101 quickchange.....The coupler is cross drilled for a pin.....my lower shaft of the quick change isn't drilled....does the coupler need to me pined ? or any suggestions on drilling the lower shaft???? I might add that the quick change is already built....

I pinned my quick change. I don't remember it being that difficult
If I remember correctly, I did it in the car.

I think it needs to be pinned so that the shaft is fixed.

How did you drill the shaft? My concern is getting it aligned correctly so the pin will fit....is there any kind of alignment jig to guide the drill?
