I hear people misusing terms in ways that make me thing they don't understand the term they're using. As an example I am seeing people selling USED old parts as NOS, as if used in good condition is the same as NEW old stock. Another is selling a car that is in "mint" condition. Coins come from mints vehicles come from showrooms. who has something to add to the list? I'm guessing I missed a few.

All original, the car has been repainted a barely close to stock color and interior is completely wrong.

"All stock/all original", "mint condition", and "rare" are three that always bug me. Most of the time, whatever car the seller is describing, is none of those.

  6. "Very unique".
Either it is unique, or it isn´t.
There are no degrees of uniqueness.

  9. Thats the one that gets me..usual for where? Michigan, or Ca?

Or "rust in the usual places" is what I see.

Still..no one I know wants rust..if you cant crawl your ass under the car and give details on all the rust, then dont bother trying to sell it.

It irritates or annoys me when "description" is spelled wrong.

  11. "Good condition for it's age" makes the mind boggle at what it really looks like...

  12. lol

Any spelling errors in car ads put me off.
Just seems that if they want to really sell it,
they will at least proof read the ad or get someone
    else to proof read it.
If they are casual with it, do I really trust them ... JM2Cw

    my loss...your gain.
I agree that in some instances its genuine but the reality is that if you really cared you wouldn't have to "loose" it...and then to admit its someone elses gain? im sorry, its a bunch of shit....it should say: "im getting rid of this piece of shit...please add this piece of shit to your collection of shit and pay me just a little cheaper than what im listing it for".

"school me/learn me." geez use the language properly, its " teach me/educate me"

    and

"not 100% sure what it fits..."

with the age of the internet, its pretty easy to find out what fits what now a days, unless its a 1934 russian left handed widget, I don't understand how people selling stuff can put a price on something they don't know what it is?

The best ones are the ads where the seller doesn't know how to spell the name of his car. "Camero" is the worst offender. If the guy can't spell his car correctly, he's not someone I want to deal with.

You've got to love the guys who take ad photos at night in a downpour with a barely-functional camera phone. You know, the ones where you can almost tell it's a photo of a car. What the hell are people thinking?

  16. "California car" Like that makes it special. You should have seen the rust in my '57 Chevy. Jack put in floors, rockers, lower 1/4's, the "usual" places, and I replaced both doors on my built in California car.

19xx Henway only has 10,000 ORIGINAL MILES , there is no such thing as original miles. Originally it had 0 miles. People should say actual miles.

Guy at work uses the term "full race" to describe an old cars engine that he once had.

Or, "it has a 3/4 cam"

An engine is a type of motor.

  27. I hear all the time
    " I had a 750 but Bubba jetted it down to a 600"
Which is the equivalent of saying.
"I am stupid and do not understand what i am doing or how it works and my friend Bubba is too. "

How about a chevy 301 instead of calling it a 302?? I'll probably catch hell for this one.. It's a little too early for popcorn, but I'm ready! :)
