I'm currently building a 327 with a trips Edelbrock intake. What are your thoughts on what carbs to run? Looking for something that are somewhat easy to find and tune Thanks for the help Lowboy
Yes, small base 2GCs from 265-283-307 engines. I still find them cheap at swap meets, and if you want to spend the $$$, there are aftermarket tripower end carb style bases with no mixture circuts available now.
Thanks bro, I'm looking to build this motor 60's era so I would like to stay away from the newer aftermarket stuff...so off to the swapmeets I go
I have a set of trip Rochester 2G's in the front pass floorboard of my '67 Camaro that are off probably a latter '50's Indian or '57 Olds? The two end carb's don't have any idling jets in them. I had a second set and a so-called "friend" stole them! Now all this said, I took a 348" "W" engine trip intake and had it brazed up so that I could mount three 2GC's that I installed on my hopped up , .060" over, 11.5 to 1 CR, NASCAR solid cam equipped 409 "W" engine way back in like '73 or so. In myn '67 Camaro!!! The big 409" engine looked like it was a stock install when you opened the hood and saw the great chrome "W" shaped valve covers............... Sucker was like a SB on steroids!! pdq67
haha no problem... thanks! Yep usually they have a small "GM" in the casting on the side. They are pretty easy to find. I found 3 for a buddy, he's going to buy the kit from speedway to make them tri power it's like $400.
as i understand its not just the idle mixture screws that are not used, but also the throttle blades are thicker on stock 3x2 setups, the thicker blades do not stick shut when they are fully closed, something that never happen when you run just one carb.
Geez, back then 2G's were at the most, $5.00 each off junk SB Chevy engines! And the somewhat larger 2GC's like $6.00 each... I got my three 2GC's off of older latter '50's/early '60's 2-barrel big car Pontiac engines in a couple of Saturday's scrounging "Boneyards" back then. pdq67
Take a look at www.chevytripower.com Ron Kellogg runs the site. He does excellent work. He can be reached (309) 360-6385. Ron is in Central Illinois.
You want the side inlet carbs not the one pictured ,Look at all chevy 307's + boats ran electric chokes for the center .4 cylinder of course
