The Quadrajets would require an adapter which would impede flow, older AFB Carbs would be ideal or Edelbrock 500 CFM Carbs.

Yup! Not sure on a '64 intake if the bore holes still have to be opened up like on the earlier WCFB intakes for the Edelbrocks, or if they were a bit bigger by then.

    EXACTLY.

AFBs were stock, anyway. You'll have a hard time getting any other carbs to fit.

Get you a couple of thermoquads which were used in MOPARS to help absorb the heat from the engine, they will bolt right on and are easy to maintain, you definitly don"t want to use Holleys on it.

Thermoquads will not "bolt right on". They'll need the same adapters that the quadrajets would.

    Exactly.

They were made for AFB's, dude - use an Edelbrock if you must, but the right AFB will run better. ;)

  8. AFBs or Edelbrocks - a pair of 500's would work nicely

Nope. Running tri-powers on both of mine and before that I was running a single 4 on a Weiand manifold. For some reason, and it's probably due to the cost of fuel very few people run dual 4's here in Australia.

Given that the 318 is mostly stock, I would recommend the WCFB. They worked well on the C-300 and 300B.

I ran 2 500 edlebrocks on my 59 poly motor, but it was a Wiend intake. Worked great. Gary

Depending on your carb expertise...you can talk to Edelbrock & tell them you want 2 set up for your application, the engine is a bit small for 2 500s.

  16. Does anyone still make 4bbl inlets for the 313/318 poly?
I'd like to change out my 2bbl for a 4bbl...cast or alloy, dont mind which.
Not much hope of finding one in NZ:(

On mine we had bumped the compression a bit with a dome'd piston and had the cam re-ground. Ran hard and never had any problems. Gary

Running that intake, you might want to buy a matching cam...
