No, I might end up doing that down the road... for now it stays in the paint it has. (No Mas Dinero!)

Speaking of Coker, I ordered a set of wheels and tires from them on 5-19-10 @ 10am for my El Camino. The tires came from their Chattanooga store on Friday 5-21-10 at 2 pm.(2DAY SERVICE!) The wheels had to come from their California warehouse and I've already received FedEx shipping numbers on them. They will be here on the 27th. OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!!!!........Mike

I popped the spare off today to see if I could mount it differently without re-building it.

Nope - at some point the mount was moved forward to accomidate a bigger tire.

I do plan on rebuilding the mount... just not today!

I never posted pictures of the painted motor. The head, carb and distributer were rebuilt before Santa Maria.

Dig this: the guy that mounted the tires used what he called a "cheater". I asked about it and said that alot of tires mounted on small wire wheels (8" wide 13s with skinny little tires) require the cheater to get the tires on.

Nice pick'em up. I drove my '59 everyday for years at stock ride height. Once I took the time to lower it I was like wow, should have done it before I even registered the truck!
Rides, handles, brakes and steers better.

    Thanks!

How much did you lower it?

I put the rear axle on top of the original springs, rebuilt the shackles, bought Moroso perches to weld to the axle, modified the original shock mounts to work, "c" notched the frame rails, thats the rear end, like $180 budget and 10" drop.

The front required a little more money, Posi springs, new shocks, u bolts, and shackle rebuild kits, like $410 and 4" drop. Improvement in ride, handling and looks good, its got a hot rod forward rake and best of all the frame is 100% 1959.
