The Raybestos RPU is back from paint, in final assembly, and getting upholstery this week. New parts back from the chromer and Pacific Coast Powdercoating each day. We plan to have it on a racetrack by mid August. Troy Ladd and his team in Burbank are burning the candle at both ends to make Norwell's illustration and Murray Pfaff's rendering come to life. If interested, check out some of the new build pics I just uploaded here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/raybestos And video updates here: http://www.raybestosgarage.com/ And please, if you care to, ENTER TO WIN THIS RPU by end of August -- at RaybestosGarage.com...... Troy and I would much rather be giving the keys to a HAMBer next May in Gasoline Alley at the Indy 500! Would love to hear what you guys think about the progress, with so many HAMBers involved in the project. More pics and updates to come. But not too many that it becomes obnoxious. ;-) I'm just really excited about how the RPU is coming together. Thanks! JR
Cool idea... And I love me some Troy... but how come TJJ isn't listed as part of the "family" on that site?
Happy to do it! I was just concerned that you might think this would be too "commercial", and OT, with the newer engine. So was trying to be respectful... I'll see what we can get done! JR
Here is a shameless plug for the Ray Ray Roadsta........... Got me a dealer kit..and inside the Tin metal sign is Bitch'in Josh and Django.......excellent work. Troy... your Handy too!! ha ha Great work guys
Yes, super cool... That vintage sprint car style nerf bar design is the brainchild of Chad "Django" Hill -- fellow Chrome Czar. The 50s Raybestos "Winged R" logo is waterjet cut and welded in. Troy & co decided to make the nerf bar brackets functional, serving as our upper shock mounts. I can't wait to see it in chrome in a couple more days. JR
The RPU is lookin' bad ass! Love the detail too, the Raybestos "R" in the front nerf bar is too cool!
Thanks! And the sign would not be nearly as bitchin without your work Mr. Norwell. I can't wait to see the nerf bar. You forgot to show them my tailgate!
Josh will have to post who did the stamping... his name escapes me at the moment. It's bad ass though. Kick ass work by Troy and Co for sure. I can't wait to get a ride in it (hopefully!)
Cool RPU the guys at Hollywood Hot Rods know how to build one badass Hot Rod.Looks like all these guys are having a good time with this project, the artwork is killer Norwell.
Cool! Thanks everybody! I just saw this post. Irwindale racetrack has been scheduled for testing & filming on Aug 16th...... less then 2 weeks.... been pulling some late nights I am currently in wiring hell... do you know how many wires it takes to run a modern engine with vintage fuel injection, converted to electronic? ANSWER: a shitload. Thanks for the support! Thanks for all the kind words Ryan! (slightly blushing) It was cool hangin with you guys at the Petersen deal a while back. gotta go back to work!!
WOW!!!! Norwell that sign kicks ass! and for the truck I am freaking out this thing is gonna be ridiculous. I want it ..........please ........wah wah wah ........pretty please.......can I have it......I promise I will never ask you guys again...........for anything
Tman that is nice of you to think like that I will let you store it there until I can get a chance to pick it up after I win it.
A little bird told me that the RPU turned a wheel in anger around the streets of Burbank very early this morning...
