Just a FYI .This weekend8/5-8/7 will be the 40th Yellowstone Rod Run in West Yellowstone MT.This is one of the oldest rod runs in the country started in1970 .The run is Thursday Friday and Saturday .Its usually a 300-400 car event but this year might be larger because of it being the 40 th .Any Rocky Mountain Hambers out there come on down.I will be hawking my wears all 3 days and have a HAMB sign displayed.I am going to be on the road for a few days afterwards so I will post pics late next week. Hope to see some of you there .
I'll be there with several other Utah guys. I won "Most Popular Car" at the very first Yellowstone run in '70. Mick
My wife and i were also there for the 25th. WOW how time fly's. We are going to be there this year even though we don't have a car ready to go. It is a great show and the drive into West Yellowstone is nice to. Would recommend this show to all.
WOW!!! 40 years? I remember when Joe Mayall wrote about the first one in the magazines. Time flies when your having fun. I agree there should be some kind of tribute to Joe and Lois, they were mainstays in street rodding in the early revival. Frank
I would like to see pics also. I used to go all the time. Was at the 25th and 30th. and about the fourth plus many in between.
And this sweet 55 Ranchwagon. I got to commiserate with the Owner?Builder about Ranchwagons and such.
The 1973 Run was my first Rod Run. I went from MS to L.A. and my brother and I drove to Yellowstone. My first exposure-I was 16 years old and had never seen that many cars of that sort in one place before; or that many total in my life. The Mayalls pre-NSRA, Dick and Lois Magoo (because I can't spell their last name)in their Touring drove up plus a whole lot of Idaho folks I'd see lots of summers after that at the Boise and Hell's Canyon Runs. Recently found a set of pics from the Yellowstone run, but my old scanner and new computer aren't speaking.
