Mine has hung in the sunlight so long it has taken on an eerie spooky hue . It has staple holes from being relocated several times and some edge tears. The image i posted was
from a 20 year old magazine page and the color had no fade. I think you can still buy the real deal large poster for about $40.00
also a better shot of Snuff Fink than the trading card image i post earlier

This is some great stuff! I would have to say that CARtoons from the 70's and 80's is one of the reasons I got into hot rods and customs. My family is involved in oval racing but that mag exposed me to a whole new area of cars. To bad there is nothing like that for todays youth.

The youth of today has the internet and sites like the HAMB but there will always be something special about relaxing in your favorite chair flipping each page.

  6. I have been enjoying the HELL out of this thread, so keep it up! Thanks to all who have posted!!!

Don't flame me too hard, but I haven't seen much from CARtoons. I realize that they did a lot more with muscle car-related art, but there were some pretty cool rods in there too.

On the subject - Anyone have the January 1984 issue of CARtoons that they'd part with OR make me a color copy of the cover??? It has a 1971 or 72 Road Runner on the cover, and I'd love to hang it in the garage near my 71. It's a little OT, but it'll compliment the very ON topic "garage art" and the 49 Dodge Delivery Truck that I'm doing.

    Thanks!!!

  7. This thread seems to be mostly for the other comic books and strips that had an automotive or racing theme.

If it's CARtoons, Hot Rod Cartoons, DragToons, SurfToons, CycleToons or any of those type of mags you're looking for, here's the thread you need to check out! :D

Some of the original "'Toons" artists are even menbers here on the HAMB.

My favorite rainy day reading is checking out the album pages provided by the artists here on the HAMB . For instance Gary Campesi ( GaryC ) has 144 pieces of outstanding artwork one click away... An easy way to find great art is to view the Friday artwork thread ... find some art you like.. click on their avitar & see if they have an art album or link to their website. Here is a preview of what is in Gary's album . Comics, sequential art, or a graphic novel use a series of panels to tell a story . A good painting can do the same.

You do not get many second chances when you paint in watercolor . Here are a couple by Spoggie that capture the moment

    Also an unrelated selection from Drag-Strip Hotrodders " I'am a Lemon a Car's Own Story "
& Ace Dragger by Nicholas Alascia

they are of Frank Frazetta the artist who drew Johnny Comet . Johnny bears a strong resemblance to Frank ..

  24. C'mon, I got more important things to do than sit here reading old Frank Frazetta comics. OK, so I don't, as it turns out. Great art, great stories, and thanks again for the nice scans. Love the "Al Gore" references in the last couple panels. So does "Evil Al" get what's coming to him in the end?

  27. Anybody remember a shoebox on a dragster chassis, where the kid wore a wolfman mask to rave the dragster, disappeared into the night, and then drove by the cops with the full body on the car?
Got caught by a cop with a race car.
