Ok, reposting this old thread with the proper title...got these old photos in a box from Stan Betz some years ago and found some more today. Thanks to SoCalMerc who identified it as Tom McMullen's "Fun Run".
Cars are driving through a check point at the old Betz Speed & Color, 1470 West Katella in Orange, CA. Photos were developed in May of '82 but they could have been shot earlier. Hard to believe it's nearly 30 years ago.
None of them are labeled...thought maybe some HAMBers would recognize the cars, owners, shotgun riders....etc....any of the cars still around?

  12. This '29 belonged to the late Chuck Dunmead, long time member of the LA Roadsters. The car is still in the family.

  13. Could this be the car that Paul Gommi owns? It was in The Rodders Journal a while back?

  21. Holy Cats! Talk about memories! I went to one of those runs (Toms or Fun Run-can't remember) with a buddy about then and we ended up in the publishing office parking lot...I think it was on La Palma near Brookhurst in Anaheim about that time wasn't it? Just checkin' my memory... Um, how bad is it?

  22. The T roadster looks like a car Brizio built for himself...saw it here in Omaha at the "world of wheels" car show.

..that's a slick looking roadster, the track nose is awesome.....wonder where it is today.

Looks like the Stroker McGurk hats were really in vogue then. Thanks for adding those pics Grandpa!

Rocky, You might be right but my memory of that car puts it in the ownership of Don Varner from the west coast. Now we have 2 old farts with different memories. Did you ever think that would happen? Someone come on and set the record straight.

I think a Tom's Fun Run thread would be cool ( ok funny). Graduated in 83 ,TFR and " Street Rods" where so cool then. Traditional rods (at that time) just needed alittle UPDATING. I was 1 of them. I got cured. Thank God.
