Hi I'm Rodger the owner if Ironworks Speed and Kustom in Bakersfield, Ca. We are pretty busy these days doing all kinds of work. I have found a handful of guys from this site from all over the country. We are looking for highly skilled craftsmen with good attitudes. We do everything from some traditional stuff to pro-touring muscle car stuff. Here is link to our website. Chassis guys and sheetmetal guys are all in great need.

Email your resume with pics of previous work. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO TIG WELD.

I'll push this back to the top for ya. I've been following your work on Steve's Nova site and Pro-touring.com. You are clearly one of the premier shops in the country! The chassis work you are doing on the Nova is incredible!

With that attitude and perspective, it's no wonder your shop is successful and busy.

    Keep up the good work.

Man I sure wish my skills were ample enouph to progress me past the "hobbiest" level. I'm not such a fan of the dry heat, or oil rigs, but I would move down there for that. Good lick in your search.

Hello Ironworks, I like the name of your shop, being as I am an Iron worker
myself. The young and not so young guys reading this thread may take note of the need for qualified welders. This valuable skill is taught at most local trade schools for a reasonable cost . There are evening classes at most schools. If a student applies themselves the basics of tig as well as other welding will come surprisingly quickly for the devoted student. When the cost of formal education is considered there is a lot of earning potential for a skilled welder versus cost. In my field ( nuclear power station repair and maintenance) welders are always at a high demand.

If "pville" means Porterville, you'd be crazy not to go.

Bakersfield is not to far from Porterville, maybe 45 minutes.

I could use a guy with a good attitude that has the basics down. Precision fabrication and some TIG welding know how. It does not take more then just a few weeks to get a willing guys skills up to par. But it takes awhile for the guy who already knows it all. Attitude is more important then skills, but I don't need an entry level guy right now. Sheetmetal or Tig welding chassis experience would be good.

If you already know it all we have no use for for you. The most talented guys I know claim to still be learning on a regular basis. As it should.

I have recently worked at the Diablo Canyon Power station near Pismo Beach. At the time ,late last year into the spring of this year. Work was very hard to come by in California at the time, and yet we were still short a few welders. The thing about Louisiana, it is a good place to live, but
the wages are lower by average than most areas.

i hear that from older people all the time, you ask them something and they say, they don`t know, but will figure it out....really like that quality in people, especially when the person you ask, you know they know the answer but won`t just come out and say it........ i`m striving for that, not a know it all, but can figure anthing out given the time, i can do all the things you are looking for, been a general mechanic for 20+years, welder of and on for about 10 years, built and raced my own cars at mesa marin for 12 years.....so, maybe i should come down and check out your operation and maybe apply and you can check me out too.....
