Not his stuff, we've got plenty of those, but the ones you did that clearly owe a debt to the great one. I'll start with my Capri, it's not in his league but the origin is obvious.

  4. Good thread Nads. I'll get in on this one.

My late friend Charlie was always a huge Larry Watson fan and he's the one that educated me on Watson and made me a fan also. Here's a few pictures of some cars he painted.

The first is the last one he did before he passed away, his '57 Ranchero. It was sold and belongs to someone in Europe now--Sweden I believe. The next is of him with the Ranch. He always HATED having his picture taken.

The next few are of my friend Mitch's '63 Chrysler. This paint job is 10 years old this month.

And the last pictures are of my Buick, even though I think everbody has seen it a ton of times and is tired of it (lol). Charlie did the layout on it back in '99.

PS, I drove my Capri to work this morning because I was bringing in a bunch of blueprints and the trunk is huge AND clean, I thought of Larry Watson the whole way and what an adventure custom cars are.

Nads, I just gotta say, your Capri rules! Nice work.

  9. Yes, they are an adventure. There is nothing like rolling a custom, whether it's across town or across the country. Unfortunately I haven't driven the Buick in a while because it needs a new power brake booster, and I just haven't been able to see my way clear to fix it. I really miss driving it.

It's like a good friend of mine always says, "Life's too short to drive an ordinary car." E

Since I've been a custom painter for 30 years or so, I am a HUGE fan of his! It's hard to convince people to do a full on wild custom paint job around here, so I did my own car in classic Watson style.
White Abalone flake, with custom mixed Fuscia Candy panels.
Long live the memory of Larry Watson!

Sorta O/T for the HAMB, but here's a Shovelhead I painted last fall with a Watson-inspired fogged panel on the sides of the tank.

It's in the current issue of Street Chopper Magazine if you want to check it out further.

Here is mine. I was totally inspired to buy a t-bird after seeing what he did. I modeled mine after his. I had a pic of it taped to the car as I was doing the tape for the panels.

Not sure who the owner of this car is, but we see it on the salt every year.

  20. I'd say that rendition of the Grapevine is a car that Lee Pratt built several years ago?

That car is owned, built and painted by my friend Randy Rhoades and his son, both from Eugene, Or.

  22. Yup^^ The car was my grandpa's before Randy bought it.

My baby sitting outside glistening in the sun, I can't wait to drive her home in a couple of hours, even though it's 100 degrees out life is good when you drive something you made with your own two hands and there ain't another one like it in the world.

Well it isn't a paint job, it was done with a bored mind and a roll of green painter's tape:

I have another concept in mind with a similar scallop design and cruiser skirts.

    Thanks!

Here's Mine even thou it's not done, Larry had asked Me how much LSD I had taken to think this thing up, He liked it very much and said He liked space age styling, and had His Own space age styled car that He wanted to build/ in the works. He was a big supporter of Mine and always a big help, I sent Him samples of flake so He could help Me decide on the colors to be used for the fade, I used some clear tape to hold the flake,Then drove over to talk it over, He was a good friend, I already Miss hang'in out with Him and going to Staples and the mall, and Farmer Boys. He was the type of person that if You gave Him something He would always give You something in return, He was the best. Von Doc
