voltage gauge is a cookin

    Hi I have a new painless 12 wire installed in a 53 belair with a 100amp.. one wire powermaster alt. I am reading 14.5volts at the alt and 14.5 at the trunk mounted battery. Is the gauge wrong. What next to check..Thanks
    autometer voltage gauge is all the way over to the right. its all brand new

    Alt is internaly regulated is it not?

    110 mph in the garage is worrisome as well!
    14.5v is charging normally.

    I have a power master 12V alternator on my 53 Mercury and I had to put a ground wire from the case bolt to my intake because the alternator is power coated black and was not grounded. Mine goes about 14V.

    14.5v is normal but the meter is lying to you.....what country is it from?
