I hope so, that green brassy paint make it look like a cheap Jap plastic ray gun.

I like the original version with what I believe is the 57 Olds speedometer in place better then the later version. I can't remember what the gauge pods above the column started out as or on but it did tell in an article that was in a magazine when the car was first built that I had at one time and may still have.

Dont know (at this moment) what the center console pod was made out of. Most of it was hand built.. but I think the pod was made using a part... but the gauge pods behind the steering wheel came from a 1950 Nash. The horizontal bar is from an airplane wing strut.

Thanks Rikster. Iknew everybody would like the original design better. It must be the thinner pleats.A few years back, there was a Packard in Custom Rodderwith no dash, just pleats running up and down. I believe the gauges were in the console. Looked kind of plain.

I had to go borrow this one off the net but here is a photo of a stock 57 Olds dash that shows the speedometer and it is the same as the one in the Custom 58 Chev. Dang, I wonder how close that would come to fitting in a 51 Merc dash with a bit of metal work around it?

  15. The dash looks great! I like it.

Other than were the gauges are, that console is sad. Get rid of the CD player, 80's GM power window switches, and the light switch.

  16. Very very cool, but a nightmare to plumb up, i'm sure....

Guy didn't do himself anyfavors replacing the olds cluster with new gauges. this mustof been one of those cars that got left out in the rain for 20 years.

Why folks feel the need to molest great lines with chisy head units and autometer guages is beyond me...

Cool, but could reak of pure sex (as shown in the original)

No doubt others will find it cool. Safe to say I'm not among them.

I love how big it makes the interior look

  25. I had a 49 Nash Ambassodor. anybody have a photo of that column and instrument pod? it was the coolest set up.
all the gages in a single pod with the lights and ignition on the oval column and I think the wiper switch also
