Hate to read about these incidents but now that it's happened will be interested to hear the full report from the mouth of the driver. Thank God they are on the mend.

Man that stinks...here is to a quick recovery for the people and a quick return to the road for the deuce.

  10. Oh man !!! ... I just now saw this thread ... and when I read meatball's post on page 1 stating it was a black '32 Sedan "outa Fresno", my immediate thought was KEITH BUSH ... I scrolled down and grimaced when I saw the pic F&J posted ... but was relieved to read Sixguns's post on page 5 that "the two" {Keith & his wife LaJune} are going to be released from the hospital.

Keith has owned this car since 1956! ... a real survivor! ... and a fixture in California Hot Rodding!

Keith was a member of the Fresno Pan Draggers Car Club.

Here's a pic of Keith & his Deuce Tudor circa 1959:

Andy Southard Jr. did a feature on the car that appeared in the November 1970 issue of HOT ROD Magazine:

A few years ago, Keith and Snow-White Ltd. completely rebuilt the car:

Keith showed his re-built Sedan @ the 60th GNRS (January 2009):

    Hemi32...what a great early pic!

I was thinking earlier today...that chassis held up pretty darn good with a heavy engine, etc.

    Hi All,
Just found out about this from my parents that long time friends were in a horrible accident, and of course its on the HAMB, As you know the car is owned by Keith & LaJune Bush. And he has had it forever. They were on the way to Canada for Deuce Day with about 115 cars, actually we were supposed to be with them..

My parents have spoke to both of them in the hospital, and they are on the mend. Not sure about them being released though. I will make sure to get a message to them when they are back home to see the good thoughts from everyone here.

Keep up the good thoughts for them, The car can be delt with later.

    Thanks Again
    Terri

And that is why you NEVER chrome suspension parts.

  18. Speedy recovery for both, occupants and car!

P.S. Anybody knows of a good shop in SoCal that specializes in axle repair/straightening? The axle on my Roadster (forged tube) recently decided to break without warning . . .

I'm with LTLGTO. Ed Day got pitched out of his T Bucket at that spot. It's in the right lane as you approach the Lewis river bridge. You can see where they've patched it. In a car with soft suspesion it's just a noticeable dip in the road. For a hot rod with stiff springs it can be quite violent. The car will turn to the right into the Jersey barrier Eds tube axle was bent in the same place. I try to be in the left lane when I go through there.
Ed was lucky. All he got was scrapes and bruises and the nickname Flyin' Ed.

A thread? Hell a dozen, which is the "main" one?
Anyway.... hope the occupants are OK.

And I don't care whether the busted axle was the cause or the result of the accident, but in considering a dropped axle for my current 30 coupe, this demonstrates why I went with a forged Chassis Engineering instead of a cast Super Bell.

It also demonstrates why Henry used forged axles.

Flyin' Ed actually did a backflip and got a 9.5 from the Vancouver cop that was on his way to work and watched it. Here is some pics. by the way, the tow truck driver that took mine away told me that the bridge is good for several tows a year, hotrods, motorcyles, and trailers. DPI
