My Son Travis ( aka Sleepwalker) and I have been working on this for awhile now, progress has stopped because He is in the service ( about 2 years left on His 4 year hitch) Sleep has done most all the cutting and most all the welding on this, We started out with a clapped out old race car body that was missing it's floor and had the trunk welded together, We scored the back half of the 59 Chev for 20 bux. there was just a glimse of this car in a pic on My post " My Elcamino turned fenderless rod" and it was asked about sorry it took so long to share but I was gonna wait tell My Son got back from the "Sand Box" to start a post, but thought to post it now anyway. couple more pix, it almost had a 58 Chev back end but the guy told us 200 for the 58 and 20 bux for the 59, so We went for the 20 spot 59, and My Son and I really like how it's turning out Von Doc

I dig it because it is one of a kind and shows some serious imagination. I say ditch the, what looks to be a sectioned 32 grill shell and make a custom one as awesome as the back of the car. One hell of a chop and a front grill shell styled after Roth's Outlaw and you have one bitchin' ride.

That takes the cake for an all original design.

Its out there, I'd like to see it with some paint on it.

From one proud vet to the father of a proud vet - thank your son for his service and duty to country.

As to the car...I'm an old guy...while I appreciate the workmanship, this just isn't my cup of BAT-tea. Nonetheless, it's not my party, so I'm just happy to know there's another car guy out there (waaaaayyyy out there, maybe). Some old geeze probably told Big Daddy Roth he was way off base, too.

Based on a description alone, I would have thought that would look like hammered dog shit, but then seeing it...I really like it. Far out man!

Wow! Never seen anything quite like that!!! Great idea, great car!!

  19. It needs the custom grille with 59 Chevy headlights frenched in, to match up... but that is a good idea, you guys with A coupes with no deck lid should take notice... there's probably other later deck lids that will also work.

If you described it to me, I think I'd hate it, but seeing it in the picture, I love it. Well done.

O.K., as it is, its not my idea of the ultimate rod; I would probably have done something else.

But, I can't help being reminded of some of the wild show rods from the early '60's; with enough of the right stuff to tie the design together, a wild med. blue or gold flake paint job, white tuck & roll interior, chrome reverse wheels, cheater slicks, who knows? Its got some interesting potential. :D

    Later, Kinky6

  24. very cool.ditto on the wild grill idea, hell Id even go for quad headlites but do em in big and littles..........

  25. I like it. It can't be half- assed though. I think you have to go over the top on the finish.
    Very cool.

I like it because when another driver comes up from behind you. You know they are going to say "Holy Sh*t". What the hell is that! Excuse my language. I was a sailor.

Tell your son I give a salute and a thanks.
And you too. I know sometimes you toss-n-turn
Thats a real cool rod I like the fin treatment. Its classic "This'll piss em off" thinkin.
At least you wont have to worry about where he has it.
    EVERYBODY will know that one.
    Good job.

  29. I gotta say, when I saw the title I was expecting a mess...but it's got a really cool radical custom vibe to it...nice job thinking outside of "A" box...hehe

Hope we get to see it fully executed

At first glance I did not like it. But after looking at the pictures I think it is headed in a cool direction. Thanks for sharing. Tell your son thank you from the Whiteley family.
