Good point Sololobo. Does anyone know how these rides have become known as bombs? I know it's not a new name for them. I know a POS is called a bomb because it will probably blow up if you drive it, but that hardly applies here.

    Sure thing!!!:D

I have always been told, it was because the shape was reminisant of WWII era bombs. As in, the kind that were dropped over Japan and Germany; but, that is only what I've been told. So, there's no telling how true that is.

OK, that's sounds reasonable. No better way to own a '47 Chevy then for it to be LOW.

I love the cars from ~'37 thru '54, most all makes, it was the most stylish era in my mind, they were beautiful stock & also lent themselves really well to tasteful custom touches! Over the years my tastes have evolved, meaning that my project now, though it's virtually the same model, won't be much like the one I never got finished as a youngster. My increased appreciation for the "Bombs" over the last few years has had a big influence on what I prefer now. I'm still inclined toward customizing [more removal of items than addition], but have realized I like them with a bit more of their original brightwork intact than I once did, having moved away from the "shave everything" approach. I'm also less enamored of aftermarket items like lakes pipes & spots particularly if they're non-functioning. Though I haven't joined, I have checked-out ChevyBombsdotCom in depth and check in every once in a while to see whats new.

neat, the closest gathering of rides almost like these you'd see around here would be resto's.
