i don't remember finding any money in mine but there were 2 cecil county drag-o-way timeslips in the glove box and under the wood going all the way to the back there was an old newspaper type deal shredded by mice.and a strange hole cut in the floor off center pass side, comming down the front of the rear end hump.

Just wanted to say CONGRATULATION's........If I lived where I used to live with my 30X40 shop and car lift I would have bought the car also when I spotted it for sale. I hope we get to see the finished car when done. I was leaning toward building a nostalgia Jr. stocker out of it to run with the M.A.N.D.R.A. nostalgia circut. Enjoy you piece of history. :)

  7. That was dad haha, it was dark under there and he went a little crazy with the grease :D

  10. If a guy was looking for a cheater stocker or Stock eliminator cam ie Cam Dynamics Crane Lunati etc for a 350 HP 396 1969 do these old cams still show up or are they still available from some of the manufacturers. i am not talking about stock I am talking about Stock eliminator cams (same lift but wild duration.) I have a friend who needs one.

Congratulations on obtaining the "Hustling Hoosier". I have raced against Kyle in that car at Muncie in stock eliminator. Neat car and a great guy.

I saw this picture on Bill Floyds/Edgewater site. The red lace on the Delivery side panels is almost completely faded away, as is the red fogging around the rockers, fender edges, and such. I guess, according to a friend of Kyles', the Cragar S/S wheels, and tires, were stolen off the car at some point. The current Fenton Gyros on the front have "KYLE" stamped on them. I have a set of Cragars, but they'll have to come off my 56' Sedan Delivery first. Decisions, decisions. Butch/56sedandelivery.

  15. Not sure what qualifies as a "good" spot but when I had my truck inside they lined us up in the order we rolled through the door.

  18. That yellow '56 H/Stock is a dual quad 265 car I believe, and I think it caught the tail end of the junior stock era, being more of a early 70's racer. Sold for $50K at auction.

Did this E/SP Corvette run in Stock or Super Stock Eliminator back then?

I believe it was 1968 that the sports production class' were dropped and they became stockers. Larry Lombardo won Stock at the 68 Nationals with his 61 Corvette. My 66 327/350 HP Vette ran in E/SP and Modified eliminator during 1967. I had a Z-28 Camaro in stock during 68 and didnt pay much attention to the Vettes:rolleyes:. My 69 Vette ran stock during 1969,70,71 and 1972 it ran in S/S when all of the cool old Jr. stockers were forced into Super Stock. :(

I missed it by a year.....Im old  CRS is setting in heh heh.....but my 69 Vette was classified as a stock classed car back in late 69 locally. Maybe it had to do with the cam used as I ran a Lunati stocker grind and the Sports production cars ran any flat tappet cam.....the same rules as S/S cars?????? I didnt get it out and on the track until after INDY in 69 as it was a street ride all summer. I do remember the tech guy arguing with me about it at Capitol Race Way one weekend very late in the 69 season. I was used to running stock when I first made a race car out of it and he made me run E/SP. I remember Capitol being NASCAR santioned at one time in that era. Aquasco and 75&80 was NHRA. Maybe that had something to do with the timing of which class?

    'Confusing Scooby'
In 1969, the Z-28 Camaro's ran in those '3' classes.
    1967 Z-28 D/S (#2955 lbs.)
    1968 Z-28 E/S (#3068 lbs.)
    1969 Z-28 F/S (#3215 lbs.)
I can't remember what the 302/290HP engine was re-factored to.
    I think 315HP
I do know, that in 1967 the Z-28 could run SS/E, and in 68' the 68' could run SS/F.

The other coupe Camaro's you asked about in 1969. I think it went.
    1967 396/375HP in B/S
    1967 396/325HP in E/S
    1967 350/295HP in F/S
    1967 327/275HP in G/S
    1968 396/375HP in B/S (w/aluminum heads)
    1968 396/350HP in D/S
    1968 396/325HP in F/S
    1968 350/295HP in F/S
    1968 327/275HP in G/S
    1969 427/425HP in A/S
    1969 396/375HP in B/S (w/aluminum heads)
    1969 396/350HP in E/S
    1969 396/325HP in F/S
    1969 350/300HP in F/S
I'm not sure on this one, but I think the 427/425HP 69' Camaro with a Turbo-Glide ran in B/SA.
As for the final piece to the puzzle, In 1967, the A/S class weight break was (8.70-9.49)
The 67' Camaro 396/375HP convertible was classed in A/S, but I think the coupe was too light at #3171 lbs.(8.45 wt/hp), and it was classed in SS/C only.

Thanks for the info guys. I knew something wasn't right with the larger rear tires on the Rod Shop Vette. Here's another picture of the same car (I later found) in the staging lanes behind other Modified Eliminator, er...I mean, Street Eliminator cars.

I don't mean to get off-topic but I just couldn't help it. :) Speaking of SS/C Camaros, here's a photo of a very famous one (presumably) at Indy 1969.

Man, to go back in time to that race...typical overcast skies that summer as this (then) 11-year-old recalls; at least here in the Northeast. A longtime friend of mine sez it's because of all the gunpowder in the air and from all the bombs dropped on Viet Nam. Maybe so. I dunno. All I can say: some things never change. :( Anyway, to me that type of day (weather-wise) just adds to the overall "coolness" of the event as captured by this photo.

All the /SP class cars ran in STREET eliminator up to 1967 or 1968......

They did not use the name Modified Eliminator yet.....

My good friend ran Street Eliminator with his D/MP '57 Chevy Wagon. Corvettes and Cobras were usually in the categorie at most events...

COOL picture........This was the car my partner and I raced and sold to Decola and Delvecchio..........It originally was owned and raced by Andy Spaziani.....in SS/D with a 396 manual trans.

I wanted to get some Z/28 type panels painted on it one winter. My partner took it to a painter he met and the guy must have sniffed to many laquer thinner fumes......He went a little crazy. I hated it.....and we did some paint of our own to cover what the painter messed up. It had almost every color imaginable on it and also lace panels....that was "in" at the time. One of my friends nicknamed it "little Multi-Color".......I did first gear launches regularly right in the gas staion I worked at.....parking lot was pretty big......never got any static from the neighbors.....Today....Geez.....I'd get written up and maybe worse for doing that today....

We bought it less engine.......T/K built us a 350/295 and we raced it in H/S.....Set the record in Sept. 1970 at Atco...... 12.25 Record was wiped out by class changes the following year. Larry Lombardo raced a car just like it and won some races with it. His was faster than ours ......I saw him run 12'teens

    Pete,
Thats probably one of the best photo's of Grumpy Jenkins 69' ZL-1 car.
The car looks perfect. Not tartered up with a bunch of lettering and decals.
    Relatively simple.
Saw that Tritak Performance 'War Wagon' at Dover (New York) a few times.
I think in SS/FA versus the Centolanza Brothers SS/DA 67' Belvedere.
