Very cool. You must have been all over the front end of your car like a spider, forming those things with the visor in place.

  9. Hmm, if I ever dig up a spare hood for my '42 it's getting punched and I know just where it's gonna get drug to.
    Sweet job there Mr. Jay.

  10. Depends on how big a chunk you want, should only be a few dollars for a 12" chunk, but I can check and post it later. It is a very heavy dense wood even when dried.

    Hey,

Can I suggest that if you're gonna give this a wurrl that you grind and sand your panel free of old paint BEFORE you lay out & punch your louvers? The metal will form easier, and ya won't open a knuckle feathering the old paint. Most old painters HATE louvers come paint prep time given you can't really sand between them with a machine and thus must be sanded, inbetween each one, by hand. The sharpe edges are usually good for a cut knuckle or two!

    !@#$%^&* Louvers!

I wonder if locust would work as well as the osage orange/bois d'arc? Pretty hard I think, and those damned things grow everywhere. It wants to take the edge off cutting tools, though.
