I might be moving to Denver area soon and wanted to know if there are any traditional hot rod clubs or cruise night scenes? Not gold chainer hot rod clubs ,but clubs like the Lifters, Shifters, and the Choppers. People who enjoy traditional cars. I have been spoiled living in the classic car meca of Southern California and want to know what to expect. Thanks Tex
I live near Denver. The club meets in my garage every Thursday for beers. Only problem is I'm the only member so far. eric
So, I'm assuming here you don't think "gold chainers" enjoy cars, traditional or otherwise? We have a great car scene here and we don't differentiate between "trad" cars and the rest, we enjoy them all and welcome them all to any and all events...so, if you're bringing that attitude with you...don't bother moving here, we've got enuff Californians here already! R-
Road Devils have a strong Denver chapter----they'll be helping host the Live Fast show there in October. Marcy
I have met some really good friends here, like the best... but I moved here from California 5 years ago and I think the town is totally boring. I mean in CA there was stuff to do all the time, and here its seems like there is an on and off season. Id stay in CA or move some where its exciting and cheaper cause home prices here seem kinda high for the workin man to afford and still have hot rod money. On the other hand I have a friend that moved here from CA, we've been friends for 19 years and he loves it, thinks it way better than california so in my opinion you have to just come visit and see whats up. just my .02.
Whoa! Oldtimer, I won't be bringing any of my California attitude only my good taste in traditional hot rods. Here in California the birthplace of hot rodding, we have alot of different clubs for both traditional rods like the Shifters and the Choppers and the others that don't matter. We also have alot of goldchainer clubs like the Over the Hill Gang that the youngest member is 82. Most gold chainers and fiberglass billet barge driving people have little respect for thier roots and don't care for unpainted cars that are homebuilt. I don't even want to be around those goldchainer types that is why I asked this question. So if there is any other like minded non-goldchainers types that like traditional hot rods and live in the Denver area please let me know, because it will help my decision to move.
Come on out,we can change the meeting night to fit your schedule. Here's the clubhouse.. fridge is near the work bench.
haha, that's why i didn't stop by when i needed some stuff from you last time i was at bandimere! didn't want to drive my POS parts chaser all the way across town. well that and the fact that i have a slight aversion to neighborhoods like yours! it'd be worth the trip though to see how you do it where you're at!
I swear, that's what everyone says. What the fuck did I know, never been to Denver till I got tricked into moving here. I can't relate to anyone in this neighborhood. We went to the pre-view of the parade of homes (free cuz we live here) And my neighbor stops me,hey Eric what do think of that car? (he knows I am a car guy) AMG bi-turbo scmukomatic. I tell him "don't do anything for me" ah come on wouldn't you want to drive it? "yeah, hold it in low and floor it,just beat the shit out of it" That ending the conversation. anyway....
eh, at least it's "nice", and as affordable as it gets for nice places. anything cheaper and you probably couldn't sleep at night.
what area of town are you in? I live in the greenwood village area, cause it was close to my old work, and I wanted a place with a garage while we waited to get a house.
If it all works out I will take you up on it. BTW:I will bringing my (2) '32 5W projects, my Flathead powered '30 coupe, and my '36 Roadster, '68 Dodge Charger R/T, and my '68 Chevelle SS. I also build all my cars so I am not afraid to help a friend out in the garage. Thanks for the invite, Tex
How strong is the Road Devils chapter in Denver? Are they an active group? I have met a few of the California members and they seem pretty cool.
yep, we're active. like it says above, we're going to the firefighter show in arvada next weekend. Then we're the club sponsor of the Live Fast show oct 20-22. Its been a summer of building rather than driving unfortunately... but we're here. Not sure if you moved yet, but stop by if you make it to any of these shows... or if you see us around town. sean
