Thanks guys. I'm just not getting any love for taking the zoomies off. Didn't think anyone would notice. Sounds better, runs slower. Will be building another set. Here's a shot from Chris Graves.

Has anyone found a good site for detailed results from the drags? All BangShift has is hundreds of great photos.

Zoomies? Ahhhh, weedburners are traditional; this must be one of those mystical things that gets a pass by HAMBERS!
Seriously, I love zoomies too, I'm just saying...
BTW, Dave, I don't think Shaedy has had that shirt off too much since last weekend!
You may have a new groupie!

How quick did this thing run back in 1963? I figure it was on fuel becuase the ban was off then. JC

I wasn't far off, after a few beers I started thinking how that thing would have ran in 63 with the tires they had and not a lot of trick parts. My 2 beer engineering calculations came out to a 7.60 or so. A few more beers and I would have been rite on.

I've always thought the "Golden Charriot" was cool. Looking at the later pix, I didn't stretch my Dart's nose enough!

I do believe that is Cecil Yother (Melrose Missle) doing the bleach bottle duties.

Harold Nicholson crashed at San Fernando during eliminations on Nov. 22, 1959. He was taken to Sun Valley Hospital where he died a short while later. I was unable to find what car he was driving. See his entry on my Drag Strip Deaths website: http://dragstripdeaths.webs.com/195059.htm
I'd be grateful for any who can send me more info or photo of him or his car.

That is one of the most awesome pix on this thread! Unpublished, I would guess. and clean enough to be an advertising shot for the '70 Challengers. Is that a Kawasaki triple coming from behind Charlie Allens funny?
    Great shot, thanks for sharing!
(is this the greatest thread ever, or what???)

  26. That's quite a website, kinda morbid, but also interesting. I unfortunately, know too many on that list, thankfully it doesn't have the drag boat racing names too!:(

This is Ellie in her Topolino 'Tot Rod' psyching out Frantic's driver in the fire up lane. There has been a build up thread of the car here on the HAMB, and she posted a very reasonable 1/8th mile time of 18.6 seconds at 40.18mph on her first run down the strip!
