If you really want a cool engine, go with an air cooled, like a VW or corvair.
    How could you go wrong?
Heck, it has "cool" right in the name, so you know it's cool.
    Being cool is cool.

    Go away.

I would go for the Cadillac 365. Ton of Torque and bar none one of the coolest engines there is.....was.....ever will be. There is nothing cooler then the head of a Cad or Olds popping out under the Valve Cover. They're just awesome motors!

I would go caddy also!! I'm using a 429 in my 40 sedan, lots of goodies and massive torque. 429 is 340 HP and 480 ft lbs of torque STOCK!!! wait till get my 3/4 cam and 6x2 ufab intake on it---killer!! just my 2 cents....
Oh , thats 6 2bbl rochesters not 94s! and 324 olds are available as well as 3x2 and 6x2 intakes ( I have a 324 complete motor for sale ) allen

  5. Caddys are almost a drop in. Easiest by far. Just put a 390 in my Deuce with a 4 spd.
Just took it on a "Shake Down" run to LARS, performed flawlessly. A little over 900 miles round trip. Time to pull it for paint and add the Edmunds speed goodies.
Have had a 331 in my 40 Ford since 75 and have a 390 in my 50 Merc.

Caddy is probably more popular... but MAN I love the way a warmed-up Y-Block sounds.

  7. This 390 for later!

I have to agree with the Y block. NOTHING sounds better! Besides, a lot of " gearheads " will think it is a sbc cuz of the dizzy placement..... HA HA! I get that so much with mine as it is.

    Talk about a "Sophies choice"

For me (at the moment) I'd say Caddy with a Horne !!!

(note I reserve the right to change my opinion :p)

Just build another car and then you can use both engines.

Back again and I'm just old enough to be old-school, but there are only a handfull of old-school engines that I will mess with and they are, imho..

Ford Tri-5's, "Y" blocks! Then maybe the MEL jobbers and of course the early FE's..

Cad's, so-called "Ketterings" all the way up to the last 500"er b/c they were the rodder's choice back then as well as...

Big Olds and nailhead Buicks along w/ say a 421" Indian...

There was a reason way back then that our old cars were called......

Fordillac's, Bufords, and Studellac's and on and on (Sp?)..

The Cad is the obvious choice. More inches, tons of grunt, and the have the 'look'.

nothing says hotrod like a cadillac. y block's a good fall back if you can 't find a caddy.

I prefer the 390--better oiling sytem, but I 've had several years of good service out of my 365 so far.

It's a Ford right? So break the trend and put the Ford in it.

Wow ! I just realized you are from Italy.

Quello è così freddo! , scusi prego il mio italiano che non lo ho parlato o che non scritto da quando la mia nonna è morto quasi 30 anni fa.

I just checked your profile ... I can see why you are into American Hot Rods... with a birthday like that you couldn't help it !!!
