Just thought I would post some more recent pictures of my 1965 Plymouth "Super Stock" wagon. I "finished" the car back in 2006 and have posted pictures of it on several threads on the HAMB over the years. Since its completion, I have been constantly tweaking it and making minor changes as it evolves into something closer to the "vision" of it I have in my mind.

Most of the changes I make on the car are in the effort of making it more authentic looking. Two of the things that bugged me from the day I "finished" the car were the modern Torq Thrust D wheels that I originally had on the front of the car, and the vinyl racing stickers I had on the glass. I "settled" for the Torq Thrust D wheels when building the car as they were an easy/affordable solution for the look I was going for. I used vinyl decals because I could not find the original water slide decals I was looking for. The car looked great, and it got a lot of compliments, but I always felt the wheels and the stickers were too obviously modern and stood out like a sore thumb.

Thanks to some helpful HAMB members, I was able to find original water slide decals for the car to replace the vinyl stickers. I also purchased a killer pair of mid-60's Ansen aluminum wheels from a fellow HAMB'er. I had these blasted and C&C'd and then repainted them myself. What an improvement over the TT D's!

I learned about licenseplates.tv on the HAMB and ordered myself a set of custom "426 CID" california plates. I found a HAMB'er who supplied me with a cool 1965 registration sticker for the plates. Yet another HAMB'er hooked me up with a pair of vintage Plymouth dealer plate frames from the R.O. Gould dealership in Long Beach (the car originally came from Los Angeles so I thought it would be cool to do it up as something that might have been owned/raced in the Long Beach area circa 1965). The waterslide decals from Lions Drag Strip and a number of nearby speed shops and parts suppliers also add to the local flavour.

Anyways, I thought you guys might appreciate some of the changes made for the sake of authenticity. When it comes to the character of these cars, it is definitely all in the details (one of the very first changes I made several years ago was swapping the BFG radial TA's for a set of Hurst cheater slicks - LOVE the tires Cody!).

These projects are never truly "finished", but I am at least a couple of steps closer to my vision...

    I like it!

I just hope you made the changes to suit yourself and not the HAMB.

    nice job!

This is easily one of my top 3 favorite cars of all time. It is far too cool.
You really have to see it in person to appreciate the effort that has gone into it to make it look authentic. Can't wait to see it with the most recent changes

sounds to me like "HAMBified" means modified with help and connections via the HAMB.

    Looks awesome!

Great looking car!!! I think the little details often make the car, and YOU knocked it out of the park! Congrats.

Everything about the car has been done to suit my personal tastes. My ideas for the car came long before I even knew the HAMB existed. It was while searching for authentic, period-correct stuff for my car that I stumbled across the HAMB in the first place. Needless to say, it has been a wonderful resource for me!

Saved the best picture for last! Engine is a mildly built 440 from a 1970 6BBL 'Cuda. We did it up to look like a "one-of-none" 426 "Super Stock" wedge. As I am sure most of you know, the 440 was not yet available in 1965 and the Max Wedge was no longer available. The Super Stock cars all came with the fire-breathing 426 race Hemi. Unfortunately, a Hemi was WAY out of my budget. Plymouth did offer a 426 "street wedge" in 1965, but it was kind of tame for my liking (blue with chrome air cleaner and valve covers). We decided to do the engine up like a "what if?" racier version of the 426 wedge, like an option Plymouth might have offered between the street wedge and the Hemi. I think it turned out OK...:D

Just brought back a memory of a car that was same except it was light blue. Back in 1974 I lived in a little town population 900 and one of the guys had a wagon that was set up like yours. We thought it was cool back then.
    Nice car you have there
    Thanks for sharing your project.

Some grocery getter!!! Have you checked out Wagons of Steel on the net, WagonsofSteel.Com? I believe they're on the HAMB also. Butch/56sedandelivery.
