started on the drivetrain about 2 weeks ago I think im going to bag it but still unsure. if I do would it be best to four link, 3 link or leafs???? got rid on the torque tube and motor and trans. I picked up a camaro rearend that seems to fit pretty well is this the normal rearend to swap with found out the hard way the S10 is to narrow.

for nostalgic ride a latter bar would be nice or just a four link can be done it is a very simple process but its all in planning and the fabrication. If you plan on bagging it a triangular four link is usually what the minitruckers run for their set ups.

how would the ride and relibility be if I used a single leaf and bagged it like that?

I think it would be better to use a 4 link type set up, fabricate or maybe get off a 78=87 G-body car, c-notch the frame.

lots of ebay parts on that motor. people will buy everything that unbolts. I parted a 216 with a cracked block and did pretty well. that oil filter that bolts to the block like that isn't seen very often.

This may sound stupid. But I like whitewalls and either metalic paint or flat colors (red green blue) and it looks like you've already done it, but they look kool slammed

Im on a budjet too and couldn't afford all that is required to bag these cars (open drive conversion, new rear end, front clip ect.....) I chose to go with Jamco Suspensions, new springs front and back, Check ot their web site. Another good source for parts is www.nationalchevyassociation.com , www.chevsofthe40s.com , and Patrick's. Good luck and PM me if there is anything I can help you with, there are alot of guys on here with lotsa knowledge that will help also.

I used a Jaguar IFS on my styleline with 78 Camaro rear on a triangulated 4 bar. The front is on bags and the back is on air ride bag over shocks that I picked up cheap. Looks like you have a good start.

any tips on the 4 link i have link bars now but I didnt buy them for this is there a (to short or to long) for the 49-50 what would be the ideal mounting points on the frame and what kind of angle do i want them at?

I used a triangulated setup that was designed for a mini truck. Just made new brackets to fit the chevy, works really well, there are some pictures in the link in my signature.

did you mount your top links behind or infront of your factory leaf spring bracket? also is there any advantages to the four link over a three link? i know if i do a three link it will take up valuable space into the cab but it seems like it would be easyer since im putting in 2 or three cross members.

im sorry if i sound like an idiot to some of you this is just new to me. this is the first car iv bagged and the oldest car i have done anything with. thanks everyone that is helping me through this, Kevin

I'm pretty sure the 4x4 is wider than the 2wd by a couple of inches but I am not sure the exact amount.

thats what i was kinda thinking to because i got the s10 rear and it was about 1/4 inch to narrow to inside hub to hub then the 50 leafs. i got the camaro rear and that is what in RIGED (look at the clearance between tire and fender well) under it in the last pics i posted of the side of the car. it fits good under it
