just stock 14" wheels. these are D-size wheels because I'm running Granada disc brakes. Tires are 285-55/14 radials. The whitewall is 1.5"
Here is my "other" Merc. Feel like it was my "find". Unmolested 70K one owner car - perfect interior and runs like new and got it cheap. Couldn't wait and painted the roof right after I got it. Now I got the interior apart to fix some minor floor issues and get in 3 pt seatbelts (got a kid and a wife) and get the underside of the car painted. Plan to lower it some and re-paint the stock blue and might go painted rims with spyder caps. Then drive it all the time.
Cool cars everyone. I've been waiting for a thread like this to check out everyones "bastard" mercurys. Heres my 63 Meteor. Lost of work left. Mostly Body work... These are the only pics I have since I bagged it and put on the wheels/tires.
That car is tuff looking...I like it. Very different treatment for a merc, more 57 Ford hot rod-ish if that makes any sense.
I'm sure most of you have seen this before, but this thread just seems to be begging for it so here it is, a 62 Monterey 4-dr.
A few detail shots. I installed the short factory 406 style exhaust manifolds since these photos. Interior is all original, just re-painted the plastic piece around the instrument cluster gold.
Its hard to top the Mark Morton merc. I have not seen a photo yet that truly does it justice. I saw it at all stages of the build. I wish that car would come back to this part of the world.
A friend of mine owned this for a while, just sold it a few weeks ago, then it showed up on ebay again. Very cool car! Don't have any good pics of it myself though.
The HAMB Merc Club has any model, style from 1939 to 1965. There's plenty of pic's of each members cars. I LOVE Mercurys...The 49-51 get most of the attention, with the 39 and 40 coming next. But the 56 is one of my favorites!!!
Here's my 62 Monterey I got Saturday. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=889664&stc=1&d=1265248516
Here is my 1960 Merc. I have shaved the emblems, side mirror, side qtr louvers, gun sites, front hood emblem, trunk emblem and key hole with inside trunk release. Molded the front fenders to the rockers. Filled all the seams. Louvered the hood with peaked louvers. Put a 351W and C-6 into it. Lowered with wide whites. The interior is white tuck and roll in a V-pattern with red piping. For some reason my picture won't load.
my 65 colony park its the only one in australia i think they are rare in the US too next to zero info on the web.Dean martin drove one in the silencers customised by barris .Mine is sprintime yellow 390 power steer ,power brakes and power tail gate .
Here is a couple of shots of my 18 y/o sons 61 Meteor 600. I bought it for him when he was 6. It still has a long way to go, if he would get a job we could have it together in a year or so. We've installed a Ride Tech Air Bar rear suspension, the front has 77 T-bird spindles, discs and Shockwaves. He'll runa 302 with an automatic. Right now he wants to flake the roof and leave the rest patina (this is the original paint).
Heres a slightly rare one. 1960 Mercury 2dr bubble top cruiser with the big 430mel under the hood. I am doing this one right now for my next daily driver
63-64 merc, marauder, motnerey, (breezeway) see my add in classifieds! i have a bunch of stuff for these cars and i am very good at finding things for them! Drove my 2dr breezeway lowrider to work today and working on a 63 convertible for the next several years.
My '62 Monterey Wagon when I brought it home from the farm. And its current form, It may be done in a few years
Thanks!!! Wagons generally aren't considered bad ass. I am just going to a mild custom with it. Flake Green with a white top, rolling on Astro's, and Bellflowers. I am 2 years into it, and maybe 2 more years from now I will be done. It sat in a tree row since '75, so I pretty much have had to rebuild the bottom 8" of the car. I have more pics in my album.
