  6. Anyone know how the Strickler O.R.1 '61 Biscayne tribute car is coming? Will it make York this year?

Several years ago I had the opportunity to meet Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins... He was working as a tuning consultant for a Pro Stock racer, this was at the big E'Town SuperNationals event... Despite his "Grumpy" moniker that's been with him for so long, he was very friendly and personable to me-- He was also very respectful considering some male members of his generation don't always take to kindly to having a woman hanging around (especially at the drags)... I realize that he probably earned his "Grumpy" nickname by acting somewhat "Man-O-Pausal", you know, uh, grumpy-- But I don't think of him that way at all... And yes, he was able to handle a 4 speed back in the day, and he has a rich and colorful racing history... He deserves a lot of credit for what he's accomplished in the sport... He's certainly one of my heroes... "The Doc" (Celebrity Drag Racing Authority & Visionary)...

I always like reading articles about the 60's stuff.
Especially the one, that he really didn't want to drive the 65' Plymouth
'Black Arrow' at the 65' Winternationals, he only drove it because he couldn't find anyone else to drive it, and 'Doc' Burgess was back in New York, and didn't want to take a west coast trip.

Great thread! I idolized the dragracers from the '70's as a kid, but as I got to understand cars a little more, the guys rowing the gears were/are my heros.
Surely someone has the "MAKE THAT SHIFT" image to put up here again...please.
