Could be. Also check your oil level to see if it smells like gasolene.

ok this is driving me nuts new fuel pump new fuel pump push rod. it runs fine at idle it runs up to 3rd gear then cuts out stops running won't start. carb fuel bowl is empty but there is fuel in fuel pump fuel bowl.
so if there is fuel in fuel pump fuel bowl is the problem carb ? what would cause carb to quit on higher rpm?

the glass fuel bowl on the pump will never go empty as the fuel pump sucks the gas from the top of the fuel bowl

i thought it might be a vacuum leak since i noticed the manifold vacuum port that i had pluged became un plugged so i put a brass fitting in there. I just got back from pushing car home by myself it got half way around block then quit.

id check 2 things. first take the fuel sending unit out of the tank and see if you might have a clog where the fuel line enters the tank. mine had a screen that was clogged full of gunk. theres an access door in the trunk. if thats clear then id look for pin holes in the fuel line. i had both problems on mine and it caused similar problems as you are having. a little pin hole in the fuel line can cause a big headache.

Check the glass bowl and make sure it is seated and sealed on the pump. This is a secret place for a vacuum leak.
