depending on how bad the bumper is, repair it or mod it for a mild custom. Look for a good useable bumper.

    Lower it, drive it.

Gassers need to be set up for the strip, street gasser? Why?

Please restore it as original, it is already very close as it is. I have the 4 door 98 Hardtop version of your car (see my avatar and attached photos) in the same color scheme except white and black interior and I am doing the Super 88 4 door hardtop I found in the same color scheme version now with a red and black interior. You have a two door hardtop version of a Super 88 from what I can tell, even more desirable. If I had the extra cash I would make you an offer but I already have three 1956's, two that need to be completed if I ever can make enough extra money to finish them...LOL. I could see, if the car had to be a complete restoration with a missing motor, major body work, I can see you making radical changes, customizing, lowering. Better to be saved that way as a Rod, but taking your car and making a custom would be a crime IMHO. Better sell it to someone who likes its originality. Speaking of originality, it does has the wrong green paint for the 324 engine of that year. Put a batwing AC on it to sharpen the engine up.

There are so many project cars in worse shape than this car you do all sorts of customizng since you would need to repair the fenders or major body work to fix them and so forth, perhaps find another engine so making custom changes would be easy. There is a decent used front bumper on Ebay right now for $500 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1956...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories) and most good chrome places can redo any bumper no matter what shape it is. In fact there is a California or Arizona bumper place that carries these bumpers rechromed all the time. I can't remember the name. They even sell on Ebay. I don't mean the Bumper Boyz either. To each his own for their own car. But a car in this shape seems to me should be restored but if you own it, you can do what you want to it. No felony if you want to change it. You can find better candidates to make gassers. I have a parts car myself that would make a great candiadate.

Ha ha ha...that's the same thing I was thinking. Sounds like we're at Hershey. How dare he talk about building a hot rod, on a hot rod site.:pGet out the torch and cut that sucker up, and mail the still smokin pieces back to all the restorers, maybe they can use them on their trailer queens. I gotta say go Gasser with it, all tho, chopolds car is just awesome.
